The firmware engineer is responsible for writing and testing C-code that implements the algorithms to run power-converters (inverters, chargers, and DC/DC converters), and provides the external interfaces per the customers needs.
Key participant in analyzing, designs, programs, debugs and modified software
Collaborates on the troubleshooting of codes for firmware applications
Organizes analog and digital hardware and software operating systems
Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design
Key participant in the programming of machine language, assembly language and high level languages
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Implementing algorithms and communication protocols in embedded C.
Working with real-time C-code on a RTOS.
Troubleshooting, and correcting legacy code that is bare-metal.
Ensure source code, specifications, and release documentation are properly archived (using git).
Troubleshooting at a system level to drive down to firmware issues. A general understanding of hardware and how to troubleshoot is desired.
15% travel to customer sites, and conferences.
Basic understanding of power-electronics and power-conversion methods.
Basic understanding of 120 AC-wiring to NEC.
2+ years of industrial experience in embedded C. Working with microcontrollers and electronics development.
Hands-on technical experience debugging complex electrical systems.
Experience in design, integration and testing of embedded real-time systems.
Understanding of firmware development process, knowledge of compiler, assembler and linkers.
Experience working with protocols, such as CAN - J1939.
Broad knowledge of engineering fundamentals, and ability to perform some levels of basic testing using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc..)
Ability to be on-site 66% of the time.
