The Firmware Engineer is responsible for overseeing the various software programs through the company by running multiple analyses, tests and performing digital coding.
Key participant in analyzing, designs, programs, debugs and modified software
Collaborates on the troubleshooting of codes for firmware applications
Organizes analog and digital hardware and software operating systems
Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design
Key participant in the programming of machine language, assembly language and high level languages
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
A solid background in software engineering and programming languages
Prior hands-on experience with software development and programming languages for embedded or non-embedded systems including ability to read and comprehend code (embedded C, C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.)
BS in Software or Computer Engineering preferred
At least 2 years of industrial experience in microcontrollers and electronics controller development and/or architecting complex systems in industrial systems specifically mobile applications
Windows development with MS Visual Studio, .NET, and C#
Working knowledge of CAN communication analyzer tools (e.g. RV-CAN, CANalyzer and CANape)
Hands-on technical experience debugging complex systems involving networked microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical systems
Familiarity with safety-critical software design techniques and methodologies, configuration management tools such as Git, SVN, TFS, Bugzilla etc.
Broad knowledge of engineering fundamentals, electrical schematics and component datasheets and lab equipment: oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc. is desirable
