Sensata Technologies, Inc. Auto e-Propulsion Product Line Procurement Director in United States

The Product Line Procurement Director will be responsible for sourcing excellence and cost reduction opportunities with a strategic mindset and approach. They will have high visibility and growth potential In-Direct Procurement role working on global commodities with key stakeholders including those at the highest levels in the company.

General Responsibilities

  • Directs, evaluate, and develop a team of purchasing staff to ensure the team's resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met

  • Oversees plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing purchasing activities

  • Oversees policies, checklists, and other materials that describe the organization's technical, quality, service, or reliability standards to help purchasing staff evaluate supplier proposals

  • Oversees team of buyers to ensure they follow established procedures and policies

  • Direct and evaluate the organization's overall purchasing trends to potential bulk purchases

  • Direct active involvement with other departments to ensure the achievement of the company goals

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 10-12 years of experience

  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs on the activities as required cross-functionally, including Planning, Engineering, Quality, Programs, Finance, Legal and Manufacturing

  • Leads the collaboration with functional areas to populate sourcing events, making decisions on sourcing event structure, supplier pool, selection criteria and event outcome criteria

  • Oversees the continuous development of the Procurement function towards the best practices

  • Directs collaborations to promote the lowest total cost of ownership sourcing solutions/value proposition for assigned commodities

  • Advises on the delivering of corporate aligned procurement objectives supporting total company strategic vision

  • Advises on implementing communication strategies to ensure accurate and timely flow of information to upper management, business partners, and suppliers

  • Directs supplier risk assessments, risk management and disaster recovery planning

  • Align e-Propulsion product line strategy to sourcing strategy globally

  • Mentor and lead a team to answer all global NBO’s and other related cost requests, and also support other Global Procurement & Supplier Quality functions as needed

  • Support and represent Global Procurement in Business Unit (BU) meetings, support and drive matched pair activity on pursuits

  • Develop cost models, jointly with Cost Engineering (CE), that can be used for quick estimates or as a cross-check of a supplier response

  • Lead make/buy decisions, outsourcing and localization initiatives

  • Develop a cost library a repository of knowledge from supplier quotations and previous pursuit answers to have the capability to supply delta cost information quickly and accurately (example: design deviations, capacity limitations per supplier/product type, etc)

  • Train the team to provide the details necessary for the organization to make decisions on a total-cost basis --- including economic and FX impacts/adjustments

  • Develop a “lessons-learned” requirement of the pursuit team to do a walk from NBO costs to actual sourcing costs (NPD) to understand and learn from the gaps between pursuit and sourcing for all projects

  • Participates and leads the selection of new employees

  • Analyzes market conditions

  • Regular contact with senior management, engineering and with others outside the work group

  • Leverage Auto Category Strategies to create a sound and robust sourcing strategies for e-Propulsion

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor Degree, Engineering preferred

  • Minimum 10 years automotive experience cost estimating exp preferred

  • Automotive experience and knowledge of related commodities and cost drivers

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with oral and written communication skills

  • Work effectively with others in a Multicultural environment

  • Ability to read blueprints and assess manufacturing feasibility

  • High analytical ability in complex situations
