Sensata Technologies, Inc. Operations Manager in Tijuana, Mexico
The Operations Manager is responsible for directing operations with full management for production, facility, equipment maintenance, quality and safety. This position will be fully responsible for maintaining production to achieve budgeted volumes and quality standards.
Manage quality strategies collectively with site leadership achieve short and long term objectives. Provide leadership in execution through a structured approach
Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products
Manage day to day manufacturing operations including activities with material management and production scheduling to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner
Manage resources to meet organizational objectives
Manage and motivate individuals and teams to achieve breakthrough improvements at all levels in the organization
Provide a safe and conducive working environment that promotes creativity and innovation
Account for quality and delivery in addition to the people related items
Manages activities with management team to implement cost effective systems of control
Support organizational environmental, health and safety goals and lead effort in manufacturing
Continuously evaluate and develop a successful and strong organization which is able to meet current and future challenges
Formulate/develop quality strategies collectively with the Site Leadership Team to achieve short and long term objectives. Provide leadership in execution through a structured approach
Plan/organize resources to meet organizational objectives
Develop leadership succession bench
Manage day to day manufacturing operations including activities with material management and production scheduling to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner. Drive ongoing cost reduction to target levels
Utilize Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma techniques and incorporate best practices
Review customer commitments with production staff to assure top quality and on-time delivery
Work with other facilities on line moves and consolidation efforts
Work with HR to establish people policies for operations
Frequently interact with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels
Evaluates the competencies of their direct reports according to the job descriptions requirements in the established periods
Understand and implement policies and procedures of Quality Systems, Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), Health Management System and Occupational Health and Safety (OHSAS 18001) and any other system that the company may require for its operation
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 7-10 years of experience
Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Proficient English level
Strong desire for continuous improvement in working flow and procedures optimization
Willing to take challenges with excellent execution ability
Understand production cost structure and the basic finance tools used in company. Be able to analyze monthly unit cost report. Be able to judge the finance gain for the NBO /NPD projects or offload projects.
Familiar with warehouse/WIP inventory control process
Good knowledge of Quality Systems and New Product Development process
Experience in managing projects and developing teams of supervisors/engineers/technicians
Ability to work in a team environment with good sense in communications, negotiating with others, judgment and decision making, attention to detail, customer sensitivity, planning and organizing, and innovation
Result-orientated. Able to manage internal and external resource to achieve goals and objectives. Time management skill
Familiar with Lean Manufacturing and systematic problem solving methodology (6 Sigma GB/BB)
Good coaching skills. Good people management skills
