The Manager, Purchasing, Warehouse and Inventory leads the holistic development and implementation of a supply chain that will produce sustained on time delivery performance, targeted customer lead time breakthroughs, inventory turns and material savings. The Manager, Purchasing, Warehouse and Inventory leads the holistic development and implementation of a supply chain that will produce sustained on time delivery performance, targeted supplier lead time breakthroughs, inventory turns and material savings. This position manages and develops the procurement, inventory control, and shipping/receiving processes and its staff. This is a highly visible position with global interaction with all levels of the supported business and manufacturing site leadership teams.


General Responsibilities

  • Manages inventory management and material budgets

  • Manages analyses of market conditions and trends to predict future supply needs

  • Responsible for consistent communication with suppliers to ensure timelines is met

  • Responsible for interactions between suppliers and functional teams to answer any questions related to any documents

  • Manages negotiations ranging from Long Term Agreements to individual Purchase Orders

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 5-7 years of experience

  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers


  • Develop and track supply chain performance measurements to provide feedback on execution, identify improvement opportunities and drive change.

  • Implement supply chain improvement projects that deliver process improvement for the entire Supply Chain Management function

  • Plan, manage and implement all procurement activities of the organization, ensuring that the lowest total costs are realized. Drive savings in the plant's annual spend.

  • Regularly work with Accounts Payable to coordinate PO/Invoice reconciliation and payment status.

  • Coordinate purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to support capital investment projects and NPI.

  • Manage direct reports in a manner that will assure:

  • Safety of all employees

  • Appropriate delegation of buying and ordering responsibilities

  • Raw material is delivered to the work centers in a timely manner to assure flow of production

  • Adherence to the handling, storage, and packaging preservation & delivery procedures as outlined in the Quality System Manual.

  • Supplier management, including:

  • Leading and coach Negotiating with suppliers of raw materials and capital equipment

  • Ensure that NDAs are in place and on file with all suppliers

  • Monitoring the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major subcontracts and suppliers.

  • Track and control manual adjustments of inventory. Establish processes that minimize the need for manual adjustments.

  • Responsible for inventory management and End of Year Physical Inventory.

  • Discern which orders need to be shipped, moved, or distributed based on open orders.

  • Obtain inventory accuracy of 99% or higher. Monitor inventory accuracy throughout the year.

  • Manage the warehouse in a manner that will allow for efficient storage and movement of inventory.

  • Ensure proper business solutions and accurate results are realized by updating and managing ERP system.

  • Provide procedures and reports to identify and resolve data integrity issues within ERP.

  • Develop a Business Continuity Plan in conjunction with both local and corporate resources to ensure that the business is poised to rapidly resume production after a critical ERP system failure or natural disaster.

  • Occasional travel up to 10% may be required to other Sensata sites

  • Other duties as assigned.

Because this position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR.
