Sensata Technologies, Inc. Facilities, ESH, Security Manager in Thousand Oaks, California

Sensata Technologies is looking for a Facilities, ESH, and Security Manager who will assist in defining, planning and executing the site Facilities, ESH and Security strategy.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Implement region wide strategies from Facilities, ESH and security expert leads to implement, educate and enforce ESH and Security policies, rules and regulations, and to stay in compliance with local and corporate standards.

  • Ensure full and complete ESH management is implemented by appointing appropriately qualified, skilled and experienced ESH professionals, and supporting and empowering their work to meet all the criteria of those positions and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and Sensata related requirements.

  • Manage budget performance for the site against AP for Facilities, ESH and Security, reviewing monthly as actual data becomes available. Resolve anomalies or implement appropriate changes to return any variations to track.

  • Provide a central point of reference for other team leaders/managers/directors on site for Facilities, ESH and Security matters relating to your site, referring and consulting the appropriate subject matter expert/s when required to ensure the highest standards of service and support locally.

  • Manage and develop an effective team on site and ensure that the highest standards of performance, integrity and diligence are maintained, setting an example to others. Ensure that all team members have appropriate opportunities for self-development and career growth within a vibrant team. Ensure all team members work effectively within the wider organization and demonstrate “One Sensata” and “Smarter Together” values.

  • Provide support FESHS (Facilities, Environmental, Safety, Health and Security) to local smaller local Sensata sites.

  • To perform all duties according with company expectations quality, ethics, environmental, etc.

  • To help integration of new M&A to Sensata Standards.


  • Manage capital programs for the site from inception to completion, including major developments up to and including new buildings, building refurbishments and dilapidations programs. This should include commercial, legal and technical elements, coordinating internally, across the Organization and with external bodies and stakeholders to make the project a success.

  • Manage all new factory facilities installations, overseeing all requirements to be able to support operations of production equipment.

  • Manage maintenance of facilities machines, equipment and instruments supporting, where applicable, the Production floor including clean rooms to attain consistent quality outputs.

  • Where applicable, work with Production during plant breakdown and manage trouble shooting and rectification on a timely schedule.

  • Where applicable, work with Production for plant upgrade or rearrangement, design plant layout with maximum space utilization and provide completion as scheduled.

  • Manage and coordinate the design, installation, operation and / or maintenance all facilities equipment, instruments inclusive of power substation, air compressors, water and process gas supply, air conditioning systems, cooling towers, boilers, etc.

  • Oversee and coordinate planning of budgets, schedules, facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.

  • Oversee the coordination of space, including the allocation of layout designs for facility expansions.

  • Working with the corporate real estate manager, regional and external legal counsel, ensure all leases and property transactions on site are correctly managed, documents tracked, and actions implemented in a timely manner in accordance to CRE requirements.

  • Experience working with iVue BMS systems, proven ability to troubleshoot and adjust system setting and download data for analysis.

  • Experience with HVAC system design, HVAC system components, control systems and maintenance requirements.

  • Experience with compressed air/ low dew point dryers systems; controls and maintenance.

  • Manage fire safety programs in compliance with local codes and insurance company requirements.

  • Main point of contact with the landlord on all lease related matters.

  • Respond to afterhours facilities related emergencies and determine appropriate course of action to resolve issues.

  • Develop & maintain positive relationships with internal/external customers and facilities staff.

  • Follow Corporate Facilities standards and report on Corporate compliance related KPI’s.

  • Provide FESHS support to building tenants.


  • Responsible for fostering continuous improvement Security within the site.

  • Coordinate and manage all security activities as well as performing supervision over the outsourced security company.

  • Responsible for maintaining and coordinating CTPAT and ITAR certifications.

  • Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken where security risk exist.

  • Follow up the action plans generated during the security audits.

  • Develop, implement, comply and follow up company Security policies, procedures and programs.

  • Ensure compliance with country and local regulations and Sensata global standards.

  • Report the Security operations performance to the site FESH-Security Manager and site staff according with the management review process including recommendations for continual improvement.

  • Administration of company assets and human resources assigned to Security.

  • Coordinate investigations of incidents in the company.

  • To implement standards for the different types of the Security activities according with company global standards.

  • To ensure both safety and security in the company.

  • To effectively supervise proper functioning of the safeguarding of the company’ assets.

  • To ensure adequately company access control to employees, visitors and contractors.

  • To obtain deep knowledge and to comply strictly with the approved internal rules to ensure safety and security working conditions.

  • To ensure protection to workers, sub contracted staff working at the plant and visitors.

  • To ensure protection of the company assets and develop continuous improvements program.

  • To ensure a safe environment minimizing risk in the company.

  • To prepare plans and projects to improve the security programs in the company.

  • To maintain security equipment CCTV, Fire panels, alarms and security systems in the site.

Environmental, Safety and Health

  • Plan and implement ESH procedures, programs, and files regulatory reports in compliance with the local, state, and federal agencies as well as Sensata Corporate Standards.

  • Assist with annual department goals according to key metrics (ex- lost time accidents) that are measured throughout the organization.

  • Maintain tracking of Sensata’s Key Performance Indicators utilizing the Global ESH Dashboards on Share Point.

  • Participate in GIGAVAC’s goal setting and budget process, in areas of safety and compliance.

  • Provide leadership in developing, implementing and managing EH&S policies, programs and practices.

  • Plan and implement programs to train managers, supervisors, and employees to meet standards for environmental goals and also to enhance the company safety culture.

  • Assist with new employee safety orientation program and employee safety training.

  • Inspect organization facilities (safety audits) to detect existing or potential incident and health hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.

  • Assist with the company’s contractor safety program.

  • Assist with the investigation of all incidents and injuries from initial report to closure.

  • Maintain the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements

  • Maintain and update, as needed, the following documents and other appropriate environmental procedures or work instructions for the following:

  • Emergency Response Plans

  • Waste Management Plans

  • Hazardous Materials Management Plans

  • Fire Safety Management Plan

  • Safety Management Plans

  • Stay current with identified environmental legal and other requirements.

  • Review New Project Requests for environmental impact and safety.

  • Implement and maintain programs to achieve and track progress toward ESH Targets and Objectives

  • Perform internal audits checking for conformance to ISO 14001 standard.

  • Works with external auditors for certification renewal of ISO 14001

  • Communicates with and participates in periodic meetings and trainings with Corporate Sensata ESH teams.

  • Facilities Engineering background, Maintenance Excellence Experience, TPM, 5S, Predictive Maintenance, Reliability Centric Maintenance, etc. A strong working knowledge of ESH and Security functions is essential.

  • Excel, PowerPoint, Word, AutoCAD, Blueprint Layout and Construction drawing understanding

  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate FESHS personnel.


  • Bachelor’s degree, ME or EE Engineering is required

  • 10 / 15 years of Facilities, Environmental, Health, Safety and Security related experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • First Aid and CPR preferred

  • HAZWOPER, DOT, ISO 14001 internal audit training, OSHA, RCRA training preferred
