The Kavlico FAA Repair Technician inspects and performs repairs of articles per Kavlico Operations Specification and FAA approved data to determine article airworthiness and or bring into an airworthy condition.

Primary Responsibilities:

The FAA Repair Technician is responsible for the performance of work on articles as directed by the Repair Station Manager. In addition, the Repair Technician is responsible for:

  • Inspection, testing and evaluating incoming articles per FAA Approved data, drawings, specifications, airworthiness directives and bulletins, or other technical data approved by the FAA Administrator.

  • Attending and comprehending training programs and material on performing and documenting work.

  • Requesting any technical materials, tooling, and resources needed to perform work.

  • Over-seeing work performed by non-certificated Kavlico employees and seeking the Repair Station Lead/Supervisor, Process Engineer or Repair Station Manager for assistance if unsure of any process or repair.

  • Being Familiar with 14 CFR Part 145, EASA 145 and the contents of the Kavlico Repair Station Manual, Repair Station Quality Manual, and EASA Manuals.

  • Ensuring that quality work is performed per FAA approved data and procedures and documented correctly.

  • Assisting in creation of Repair Processes, and Bill of Materials needed to accomplish repair.

  • Inspection of return to service articles for hidden damage.

  • Issuing Airworthiness Documents consistent with Kavlico Repair Station and FAA Repairman rating.

  • Carrying out additional duties and assignments as directed.

Job Requirements:

A successful candidate must:

  • Demonstrate ability to comprehend and carry out repairs or inspections to FAA approved data and procedures.

  • Have excellent organization skills.

  • Have the ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening per 14 CFR requirements.

  • Have computer skills (MS Word, Excel, JD Edwards ERP).

Have FAA certification (Avionics Repairman) or 2 years experience working on Kavlico RVDT, LVDT, Force Transducers, and Cockpit Controls in a Technician’s capacity.

Education Required:

HS diploma with previous FAA Repairman Certification (avionics) or 2 years experience working on Kavlico RVDT, LVDT, Force Transducers, and Cockpit Controls in a Technician’s capacity. Associates degree in electronics with previous FAA Repairman Certification for Avionics (solid state position sensors).

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequencly is required to handle small components. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or more up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Because this position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR. In order to be a U.S. person for ITAR and EAR purposes, you must: (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident (i.e., "green card holder") of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, provided that you have applied for naturalization within six months of the date you first became eligible, and if not yet accepted, you are actively pursuing naturalization after two years from the date of your application.
