Sensata Technologies, Inc. Aftermarket Manufacturing Engineer in Thousand Oaks, California

Sensata is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing Aftermarket team.

As a critical member of our Global Strategy team, this new position will lead our Capability Expansion Initiative, liaising with a team of Design, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers to rapidly expand our Repair and Spares capabilities.

The successful candidate will be a highly technical Engineer and an enthusiastic self-starter, comfortable working on their own and as part of a fast-paced team focused on ensuring the highest levels of customer support. The AFM Manufacturing Engineering Lead will be overseeing our expansion into this highly competitive Aerospace market and must be comfortable working with Engineers, buyers and Management teams both within Sensata and with Operators and third party maintenance organizations.

General Responsibilities

  • Assists with static, dynamic design, and analysis of electro-mechanical components

  • Performs design verification on original and/or derivative design by collecting empirical data through experimental methods. Manipulate and synthesize the data to make design recommendations based off of the testing

  • Participates in feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Work closely with support personnel (technicians and drafting teams) in the preparation of detailed technology selection, conceptual design, detail design and prototyping

  • Coordinates failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations

  • Has a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, mechanics, fluid, thermo and heat transfer

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Primary Responsibilities:

Supporting the global Aftermarket capability expansion initiative to achieve Aftermarket growth through the development of new product repairs and production approvals Work with our distribution channel partners and Sensata Design Engineering department to ensure that the aftermarket of all Sensata and competitor brands are reviewed and considered for improvement / re-engineering Collaborating with a cross-functional team including our Repair Station, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, and Design Engineering personnel to ensure the timely achievement of key engineering milestones and growth targets. Participate in regular management reports detailing progress towards key growth initiatives Participate / Lead Continuous Improvement activities to implement techniques and methods streamlining internal processes and systems; increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Share specialized knowledge with others. Represent the company on specific projects. Mentor new employees. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement) Other duties as required.

Additional Skills:

  • Will be knowledgeable in FAA Regulations, DER repairs, Reverse Engineering and PMA via Identicality and test and computation

Additional Details:

This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR.
