Sensata Technologies, Inc. Digital ASIC Design Engineer in Swindon, United Kingdom
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic self-starting individual, to join our ASIC Digital group.
The ASIC Digital group provides embedded digital systems and software for integration into mixed-signal ASICs, working in cross-disciplinary teams to take products from initial specification through to start of production.
5-10 years FPGA or preferably ASIC digital design experience. Will have acquired sufficient breadth of experience to manage specification, design, synthesis, verification and production test. There will the opportunity to learn physical layout and verification skills.
The successful applicant will play a key role in creating future products by:
Creating designs and implementations through coding and scripting in VHDL, Verilog, Python, C and Tcl.
Modelling and verifying mixed analog/digital designs.
Contributing across the whole design cycle from requirements to production test.
Key participant in defining the design, verification, and documentation for ASIC development
Key participant in architecture design, logic design, and system simulation
Organizes the module interfaces/formats for simulation
Collaborates on the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits
Evaluates all aspects of the process flow from high-level design to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use
Organizes the analysis equipment to establish operation data, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Minimum 3 years’ experience in ASIC/FPGA design.
Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog for synthesizable RTL design and their synthesis.
Proficient in VHDL and/or Verilog for behavioural system simulations
Ability to write code and scripts in C, Python and Tcl.
Familiar with SoC architectures.
Able to write design and test specifications.
Successfully generating appropriate production test patterns.
Ability to diagnose complex behaviours in hardware, software and simulation.
Self-starter, able to own and manage multiple tasks in parallel, with minimal supervision.
Professional, competent and confident in customer-facing roles.
Familiarity with analogue circuits (such as at board level, rather than transistor-level).
Familiarity with using advanced IC design tools and methodologies (such as STA, low-power and back-end tools).
Writing technical requirements.
Familiar with good systems design practices (such as the V-model)
Familiar with automotive standards such as Misra-C, TS 16949 and ISO26262, or similar.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be engaged in activities across the complete ASIC design spectrum, working in small cross-functional teams, thus gaining the skills for more senior roles.
