Sensata Technologies is looking for a demand planning specialist who will be responsible for the development and assessment of demand forecasts on designated product / program categories. In this position you will work with multiple internal departments as well as external vendors on countless analyses to determine the needed products and quantities for certain products / programs.


General Responsibilities

  • Key participant in the creation of future capacity plans

  • Collaborates on any communication with marketing, manufacturing and customer service to ensure accuracy and efficiency of message

  • Organizes the defining of an integrated supply chain to produce sustained, timely performance on all accounts

  • Key participant in the measuring and monitoring of specific product / program categories

  • Key participant in in-depth analysis with large amounts of data to run various statistics and analyses on the company to help future predictability of demand planning

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

Sensata is building upon its efforts to develop and implement a contemporary, world class SIOP process and organization.

The SIOP team within Sensata’s Global Operations organization is seeking an individual who has a proven analytical problem solving and results-driven background to to drive improvements within the Demand Planning organization. The candidate should be a self-starter, able and willing to learn new tools and processes, think critically and creatively, and encouraged to challenge various team members. They are encouraged to try out new ideas, to be persistent in seeing them through, but also resilient when the idea does not meet expectations and ready to quickly adjust.

The incumbent will be responsible to collect information and requests, identify areas for improvements, and develop and track results on improvement plans to achieve a high level of accuracy in the demand signal to operations within the full SIOP process. They will be responsible for documenting the process or report and being able to communicate with the full team.

This role will closely collaborate closely with the Demand Planning teams, Business Unit functions (sales, marketing, and Product Management), other SIOP team members, and Information Technology to review improvement plans, develop relevant and accurate reporting, and report back on results.

  • Communicate directly with team members and as a group, about improvement efforts and their progress to date

  • Drive processes to achieve long term planning visibility, accuracy, and capability to achieve Annual Planning targets consistently.

  • Determine issues and develop improvement solutions to improve forecast accuracy, while also taking into consideration corporate goals to improve customer satisfaction (via on-time delivery) and overall cost-to-serve (inventory, expedite freight, etc.)

  • Ensure process integrity and excellence through compliance with internal policies and controls.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Collects monthly data and develops Forecast Accuracy (MAPE), Bias data set at the item, product, and other levels as needed

  • Work in Demantra or some equivalent demand planning software, primarily to gather data, provide training, or review structures

  • Understand how work relates to the overall SIOP or S&OP process, and be prepared to represent the interests of Demand Planning

  • Responsible for learning and being key user of reporting tools (OAC, Tableau). Development of new reporting based on current needs or transferring of existing reports to newer tools

  • Reviews monthly data on forecast trends, accuracy, and bias, and identifies key focus areas and opportunities for improvement back to Demand Planners

  • Works closely with individual Demand Planners on development and execution of forecast accuracy improvement projects led by the DP themselves

  • Develops and executes on forecast accuracy improvement projects which are led by the SIOP GPO group

  • Implements and guides Plan For Every Part (PFEP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) update cadence (field updates based on latest data). Works with team to refine and adjust process as necessary.

  • Active participant representing Demand Planning in system re-designs or implementation

  • Drives improvement and root cause analysis for excess and obsolete inventory, from a demand planning perspective

  • Provides reporting to DPs on new product or change management projects and impact to accuracy and bias

  • Works and supports other SIOP team members in developing or implementing general SIOP project improvements

  • Support Demand Planning in improving the execution and/or design of the Demand Reviews or Executive SIOP Reviews

  • Attend and participate in Demand Reviews, Supply Reviews, or other SIOP meetings as needed

  • Provide regular guidance and inputs to the Supply Planning process in order to improve execution

  • Experience in using problem-solving tools and techniques to create improvements.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, science, engineering, economics or equivalent discipline.

  • Preferred 4 years postgraduate experience in with some experience in demand planning and including deep understanding of the commercial side of the business and its impact on operational performance.

  • Advanced Planning System experience preferred (Demantra, SAP APO, Logility, Demand Solutions, etc.) preferred

  • An analytical mind with attention to detail and an ability to interpret data for robust decision making.

  • Experience of developing internal and external customer relationships and building collaborative processes

  • Previous experience working with all levels in a complex and matrixed environment.

  • An excellent communicator and influencer at all levels of an organization.

  • A passion to succeed and challenge the status quo where adding value.

  • Proficient with Microsoft suites
