Sensata Technologies is looking to add a Functional Safety Design Engineer in their Sofia, Bulgaria business center. This employee would sit within the Automotive, Safety Business Unit

Safety Business Unit

Our Safety Business Unit makes all sensors for safety type applications. We work with all major customers as part of a global team.

In Sofia we focus on pressure sensors with very high production volume, high quality and high performance. In addition we design our new sensors according to ISO26262 standard for Functional Safety. This involves making sensors that are able to perform specific self diagnostics and signal their fault status to the system level.

We are looking for a Engineer, preferably Electrical, to become Functional Safety Engineer and also work on Electrical design detail designs for EMC, EMI and work on PCB layouts.



  • Product Development activities in cross-functional project teams with the responsibility for technical functionality and progress of the product design.

  • Engineer will have contact with the customer and suppliers on a regular basis;

  • Develop and proof functionality, reliability and lifetime performance;

  • You will define the product test strategy and oversee design and product validation programs;

  • Support continuous improvement and cost reduction projects;

  • Research for new designs and materials.

  • You will work with well-known global automotive OEMs (VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc.) or sub suppliers.


Job Requirements

  • A technical background with a Master or Bachelor’s Degree in preferable in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or comparable.

  • Strong verbal and written knowledge of English is a requirement.

  • Previous engineering experience preferred.

  • Multidisciplinary, pragmatic and result oriented with strong analytical skills.

  • Someone with a proactive attitude, persistent and capable of setting priorities to be able to solve challenging problems and overcome obstacles.

  • Team player able to work in multidisciplinary projects teams and communicates openly in an honest and forthright manner.
