Sensata Technologies, Inc. Assistant General Counsel, Asia in Shanghai, China

As a key member of our legal department, this role will report to our Chief Legal Officer and will oversee the Company’s Legal function in Asia. They will bring a results-oriented, business-minded focus with sophisticated legal judgment and the leadership skills necessary to successfully advocate for and drive the company’s legal, compliance and business strategies. Provides a variety of general corporate and commercial legal services to a number of in-house clients. Demonstrated experience in advising organizations on complex transactional frameworks and agreements, intellectual property rights, managing litigation on the company’s behalf, advising on general corporate matters, including corporate organization, securities compliance, employment law, immigration law, data privacy, risk management, and contract management.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance in a wide range of legal areas, including complex transactional matters, employment matters, M&A, litigation, compliance and regulatory matters, facilities/real estate matters,

  • Lead team of Attorneys for the Asia region.

  • Provide legal representation to the organization; support the work of the organization and direct the full range of legal strategies and responsibilities

  • Set the strategy and goals for the Legal team in alignment with the larger organizational goals

  • Lead complex legal projects that span legal, business, and functional boundaries (e.g., cross geographies, subject matter areas, and jurisdictions)

  • Provide counsel to staff in all departments on a variety of complex issues

  • Identify, research, and analyze legal issues that affect the organization and its activities at the local, state, federal and international levels associated with the organization’s activities

  • Develop and provide trainings on legal issues, processes and policies to multi-level audiences in all departments across the organization

  • Directs and oversees responsibilities of team to ensure priorities and deliverables are met

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 15+ years of experience

  • Juris Doctorate (or equivalent degree) and license to practice law

  • Experience working for a US multinational company

  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Ability to communicate, persuade and influence effectively across multiple levels and functional areas within a large organization

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

  • Preference for candidates with LL.M from a U.S. law school
