Job Description:

The IoT Engineer is a platform developer and technologist for our next generation Device Cloud Services . This platform will enable a flexible, scalable interface to the different devices in the Sensata Insights product portfolio, and ensure market-leading data ingest and device management functionality is available to our customers and partners. We are looking for an individual who is a hands-on developer who is also people-focused and wants to build and lead a cross-functional team focused on IoT cloud technology .

Knowledge

  • Expert level knowledge of cloud IaaS architecture and API development for IoT cloud PaaS and SaaS systems

  • Knowledge and awareness on IoT gateways products, agents, sensors and devices.

  • Implementation experience in MS Azure and AWS .

  • Knowledge of End-to-end security for IoT security spanning across edge layer security, application, transport, network, cloud and infrastructure security controls, Identity and Access Management (IDAM) as well as data privacy and protection controls.

  • Experience in developing real-time data or telematics services on Serverless Application Model and/or container orchestration environments

  • Design intuitive, well-modeled API endpoints for both internal and user-facing consumption that conform to RESTful concepts. Use Postman for testing APIs.

  • Experience in platform architecture and engineering non-functional requirements including availability, scalability, reliability, performance, interoperability.

  • Own and establish best practices in architecture, design and development, DevOPs process and tools. Mentor development team members in achieving best practices in engineering and software development.

  • Knowledge of broad spectrum of IoT and Digital technologies including but not limited to below:

  • Kafka, Spark, PostgreSQL, Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, Messaging frameworks like (RabbitMQ, Mosquito etc.)

  • Azure Services including IoT hub , Event Hub, API management, PowerBI, Blob storage, Azure VMS, VNETs and Azure Load balancers

  • AWS Services including: API Gateway, Iot Core , Cognito, Lambda, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, S3, Elemental MediaConvert, Kinesis/Kinesis Video Streams, OpenSearch, Glue, SQS, SNS.

  • IoT Network technologies, protocols such as MQTT, REST, AMQP, HTTPS, Websockets

  • Practical knowledge and applicability of architecture techniques, methods and patterns including, but not limited to, Micro-Services, reactive programming, Event Driven, Data Sharding and standard enterprise integration patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Envision and develop end-to-end solution architecture for IoT-based solutions spanning devices, gateways, connectivity, cloud, apps, integration, analytics and security layers, addressing functional and non-functional aspects.

  • Lead team and personally contribute to development of cloud services for data ingest and device management for real-time telematics solutions.

  • Support the integration of new IoT devices, cloud platforms and other data sources through acquisition and aggressive organic growth.

  • Support customer Proof-of-Concepts, issue resolution and other technical discussions.

  • Collaborate with firmware/hardware teams to design new features and solutions related to device management.

  • Document development plans, processes, and overall applications from a technical perspective.

  • Lead team in development using Agile methodologies

  • Lead sizing of solution components, working out costing, deriving key commercial metrics like TCO, CAPEX and OPEX, providing trade-offs, and contributing to pricing strategies.

Education and Experience

  • A university degree and 8+ years of relevant experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills in both technology and people arenas

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
