The Principal Software Architect is a platform developer and technologist for our next generation Video Telematics Integrated Cloud Services. This advanced telematics platform will support our evolving AI technologies in Advanced Driver Assistance, Driver Monitoring, and multi-camera Live View with reliable and real time delivery of enriched vehicular data to 3rd party services and applications. The Principal SW Architect will lead the overall design and solutions effort while practicing mature Agile-Scrum based feature development.

General Responsibilities

• Oversees the developing of complex software in selected languages for Sensata products and/or applications consistently following Sensata’s coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology and release processes

• Manages the development of software to control external hardware for automated test equipment and other applicable development

• Leads software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers in the software development process

• Oversees and executes designs for small sets of new functionality as part of a software project

• Manages peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions

Experience / Qualifications

• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.

• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Knowledge

• Expert level knowledge of cloud IaaS architecture and API development for IoT cloud PaaS and SaaS systems.

• Experience in developing real-time data or telematics services on Serverless Application Model (AWS Lambda) and/or container orchestration environments (e.g. AWS ECS).

• Infrastructure as a code development (AWS CloudFormation, CDK).

• Design intuitive, well-modeled API endpoints for both internal and user-facing consumption that conform to RESTful concepts. Use OpenAPI specification to document these endpoints. Use Postman for testing APIs.

• Developing backend services using AWS SDKs in TypeScript, AWS RDS (MySQL, Postgres DB)

• Experience with AWS Services including: API Gateway, Iot Core, Cognito, Lambda, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, S3, Elemental MediaConvert, Kinesis/Kinesis Video Streams, OpenSearch, Glue, SQS, SNS.

• Understand messaging protocols such as MQTT or AMQP and be comfortable using third-party message brokers (e.g., Mosquitto, RabbitMQ.).

Responsibilities

• Development of advanced cloud services for large scale IoT platforms, AI, and real time telematics solutions.

• Design and maintain web application front and backends, using a variety of web technologies.

• Support the integration of new cloud platforms and technologies through acquisition and aggressive organic growth.

• Collaborate with firmware/hardware teams to design new system-wide features and solutions.

• Support end-users for high-priority issues.

• Document development plans, processes, and overall applications from a technical perspective.

• Support customer Proof-of-Concept and other technical discussions.
