Sensata Technologies, Inc. Strategy and competitive Intelligence Specialist Heavy Vehicles & Off Road in Hengelo, Netherlands

Sensata Technologies is looking for a strong individual for the marketing activities in the Heavy Vehicle and Off Road (HVOR) business to drive strong growth in the assigned market segments.

The Strategy and competitive Intelligence Specialist will build a high-level view of the end markets the HVOR business unit serves and how these markets develop and evolve (due to regulations, trends and competitive developments). He/She will use his/her technical knowledge, strong business acumen and inputs from the HVOR marketing team to analyze market trends, customer requirements, technology drivers, and competitive landscape to identify growth areas and build growth strategies, as well as report out on the execution and progress of those strategies.

He/She is able to manage technical and commercial topics and will provide commercial support to other disciplines as needed, while closely cooperating with disciplines outside HVOR like the CTO office and the business development teams.

Responsibilities include amongst others quantification of (segments of) markets, identification of disruptions or discontinuities in markets and their impact on the HVOR BU. He/She will maintain and grow a weighted, quantified pipeline of growth opportunities.

The Strategy and competitive Intelligence Specialist is part of a strong global team, and reports into the Director of Marketing, global HVOR.

Ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:

  • Prior experience working in the heavy vehicle (truck, bus) and off-road vehicle markets (i.e., construction and agriculture);

  • Prior experience or working knowledge of electronic vehicle controls or machine control systems, which may include sensors, operator controls, hydraulics, or other vehicle systems;

  • Self-starter capable of leading and/or participating effectively on globally-matrixed teams;

  • Excellence in critical thinking and decision making;

  • Desire to make a significant impact in a high growth environment;

  • Ability to master a broad product portfolio that consists of various sensors and systems (pressure/position/temperature sensors, TPMS, radar, vehicle communication systems);

  • Ability to work in a challenging and engaging global work environment that promotes teamwork, creativity, accountability, and professional development;

  • Must have entrepreneurial spirit and high energy;

  • Strong technical aptitude;

  • Global mind-set and strong business acumen;

  • Able to act decisively under conditions of ambiguity, and adapt plans in light of new information;

  • Willingness to travel: 10%-20% travel per year as required

R esponsibilities include:

  • Market size and segmentation analysis. Support the development and maintenance of market quantification models, sources for market data and a system to track market size and its changes over time.

  • Strategic annual short term and long range market planning to maximize growth with Sensata’s rapidly expanding portfolio.

  • Generate deliverables to support strategic decision making processes with respect to inorganic growth.

  • The support of the development and maintenance of a systemic approach to competitive intelligence.

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize legislative, competitive and technical discontinuities and their impact, generating insight around opportunities or threats

  • Generate growth objectives through collaboration of cross-functional teams (including Sales, Engineering and Business functions).

Experience/Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in engineering or related field (MS in engineering or MBA a plus)

  • Strong technical and commercial skills are essential

  • Ability to engage in technical discussions with customers

  • Working knowledge of heavy duty vehicle (on-road and/or off-road) industry and/or electronic operator controls is desirable

  • Advanced Skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Experience with Demantra, Oracle, vehicle (e.g., IHS) market database a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - fluent in English (other languages a plus)

  • Proven success delivering results in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

  • Proactive approach, and ability to work well under pressure
