Sensata Technologies, a global industrial technology company and a leading provider of sensor-rich solutions that create insights for customers, is looking for a FAE Supervisor, to support and enable the bold growth plan of the Smart Factories & Smart Buildings Segments.

The main responsibility of the role will be to lead a team of field application engineers (FAEs) to support and develop new business with Large OEMs in Factory Automation, Process Automation industries and in Smart Buildings. This will be primarily achieved through operational engineering and quality support for the Industrial product portfolio. The successful candidate must be able to combine her/his people management skills with technical expertise and a customer focused mindset to strengthen and expand Sensata’s position in the Industrial Automation market. She/he must understand customer applications, initiate and maintain relationships with customers, marketing & sales teams, design engineering, customer services organization and manufacturing.

This position reports to the EMEA Segment Leader, Smart Factories & Buildings of the Industrial Solutions business unit.

Position responsibilities

  • Manage the FAE team to support Sales win new business opportunities

  • Coach the team to build and expand relationships with technical positions with existing and new customers and identify new business opportunities by Engineer to Engineer network.

  • Lead and mentor the FAE team to

  • Seek to “design in” the company’s current and future technology to customers’ future products.

  • Become the customer’s technology partner that will help them solve technology problems, improve reliability of machines, enable new capabilities of current products and demonstrate successful use cases and wins.

  • Support product analysis and advising the customer in case of quality events to obtain sustainable solutions (8D, FMEA). Understand decision makers and their influence on awarding business within various disciplines (Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing).

  • Understand full system/application needs of the OEM and System Integrators.

  • Lead and drive successful pilot projects related to IIoT and other new growth initiatives.

  • Build community spirit across all FAE teams in the Industrial EMEA organization

  • Ensure solid succession plans that support team members’ individual development.

  • Take the lead in technical initiatives in close cooperation with marketing, sales, direct and indirect customers to generate new business opportunities for actual portfolio including the required business plan justifications (SWOT, Risk Analysis, NPV, etc). Execute and/or support NBO / EBO and NPD development

  • Stay informed on technical developments & trends and legislative matters (standards and approvals) potentially impacting applications and product portfolio.

Educational requirements

  • A Bachelors or master’s degree level in Engineering (ideally mechanical/electrical or electronical)

Work experience requirements

  • 4-6 years working experience including industrial/technical experience in an international environment and people management.

  • Commercial experience will be considered a plus

  • Experience in services in manufacturing setting (installation, site assessments) will be a plus.

  • Experience of working with sensors and in an IIoT environment will be a strong plus

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity.

  • Good communication skills, verbally and in writing. English is required language; German and any other main European language will be a plus.

  • Willing to travel up to 25% of time, within Europe and occasionally in Asia and USA.
