Sensata is looking for an independent, pro-active Technician to join our new product development engineering team, supporting the growth of our Gigavac/Megatrends Business Unit. The role is varied and challenging. The Engineering Technician collaborates with a local team or global engineering team on product design which satisfy customer specifications. Key participant in supporting NBO/NPD Design projects. This process includes supporting design engineers, sensor testing, sample builds supporting product validation, completing documentation and executing launch items for production.
Assist in new product design development, design upgrades to existing products, and lab infrastructure improvements to support the growth of the Gigavac/Megatrends Business
Design tooling/fixtures (Solidworks)
Perform failure analysis and contactor/fuse tear-down
Perform engineering tests, including customer and custom (non-standard) validation testing
Acquire and analyze data
Run electrical, mechanical and product evaluation studies
Contribute to lab continuous improvement in the areas of safety and test integrity
Detailed technical reporting to capture procedures, details, observations
Development testing & data analysis, validation testing, test fixturing (mechanical and electrical), procedure writing, test report writing, troubleshooting, lab equipment preventative maintenance and continuous improvement
Develop and fixture electrical and mechanical test set-ups. Interface set-ups with automated data acquisition equipment
Work with engineers on program timing and development of testing requirements
Experience / Qualifications:
Minimum secondary vocational education (MBO) in a technical discipline strongly preferred with 3-6 years’ experience
Ability to read and follow technical documentation, schematics, standards, and procedures
Design tooling/fixtures (Solidworks)
Working knowledge of simple hand tools (drills, wrenches), basic mechanical measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers) and basic electrical equipment (multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc)
Experience in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical test systems
Demonstrated knowledge of general safety practices and maintaining a safe workspace
Proactive attitude and clearly capable of setting priorities.
Effective time management skills and demonstrated strong attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills (in English a plus)
Willingness to assist others and, when needed, to request assistance from others. Many of our projects are high priority and have short lead times
