As an Electrical and Software Engineer at Sensata you will be part of a project team and be responsible for electrical product design, development and improvement including the embedded firmware. This includes modifications to the embedded software and/or desktop-based diagnostic software (parameter programmer, data collection, validation). This engineering role is located in our site in Hengelo, you will be working together with colleagues located in the Hengelo, Bloomington MN US and Plovdiv Bulgaria to support our European customers.
Contribute to the success through Product Development activities in cross-functional global project teams with the responsibility for customer interaction, technical functionality and progress of the product design.
You are a key technical contact for customers and are expected to build a relationship with them through pro-active and open communication and visits.
Redesigns existing hardware and/or software to reduce complexity, improve performance, or enhance capabilities of products.
Makes recommendations regarding new product or feature opportunities using new or existing design techniques.
Creation and maintenance of software specifications from systems specification documents.
Electrical and software verification and validation.
You will work in an automotive environment, according automotive standards. Amongst others this implies you follow established design and documentation processes and standards, you actively seek peer input during design reviews and provide constructive feedback when reviewing the designs of others.
You will work with well-known global agriculture, off-road or motorcycle OEMs or sub suppliers.
Jama/JIRA use in an Agile development environment.
You have a Master or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or comparable.
2-5 years of relevant engineering work experience is preferred, with desired background in some or all of the following areas:
Component-level schematic design (microcontrollers, circuit protection, power supplies, and mixed analog and digital signals).
PCB specification (technologies include multilayer FR-4, flex, rigid flex)
Experience with Altium Designer (preferable) or other schematic capture software is a plus.
Design for electromagnetic compatibility
Embedded Firmware Development experience with micro-controllers and peripherals. in C or C++.Familiarity with object-oriented software design techniques and methodologies is a plus.
Some communications experience: RS-232/485, CAN - J1939 and/or CAN Open is a plus.
Windows development experience: MS Visual Studio, .NET, and C# is a plus.
Design for functional safety (IEC 61508, ISO 25119, ISO 26262).
Customer focused; strive to find a win-win for both Sensata and customers.
Good verbal and written proficiency in English is a must, German is a plus.
Someone with a pro-active and persistent attitude to be able to solve problems and overcome obstacles. You can deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Team player and strong communicator; able to work in multidisciplinary projects teams and communicates openly.
Travel requirements: Occasional mainly in Europe to work with customers or other Sensata sites (Plovdiv Bulgaria, Bloomington MN USA)
