Sensata Technologies, Inc. e-Mobility Design Engineer Director in Hengelo, Netherlands
The e-Mobility Design Engineer Director is responsible for leading the product and technology development activities for customers within the European market for Sensata’s Automotive Business Unit. These products are used within Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrain systems and considered safety and mission-critical.
Expert understanding of mechanical and/or electrical engineering philosophies, materials, mechanics, electrical circuits, fluid, thermo and heat transfer which influence design for manufacturability
Directly interface with customers on potential new business opportunities as well as manage team interactions to solicit product specification requirements, schedule expectations and budget
Relay how Sensata’s technology and portfolio can be designed/customized to meet customer needs
Manage design engineering team through technology and product development to customer requirements and milestones
Make sound decisions on complex and challenging technical issues
Influence the cross-functional organization to deliver improved quality and performance related to engineering design
Develop actions and schedules needed to support those program expectations based on customer feedback and requirements
Collaborate with global team members to ensure that customer needs are met, and region-specific product/application requirements are incorporated into product/technology roadmaps
Builds a technical perspective on the state-of-the-art with respect to Electric Vehicle (EV) powertrain systems including but not limited to conference attendance, whitepaper research, competitive analysis (benchmarking patent research, cost estimates etc.)
Experience / Qualifications
A STEM focused university degree and 10-12 years of experience
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members while creating a culture of ownership and accountability
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and successfully prioritize multiple tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Electrical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
Automotive or power systems engineering experience
Agile product development experience, preferably with SCRUM for Hardware Development
Proficiency with SolidWorks, Matlab, APIS
