Sensata Technologies, Inc. Design Engineer Operator Sensing Technologies in Hengelo, Netherlands

As a Design Engineer (DE) at Sensata you will be part of a project team and be responsible for mechanical product design, development and improvement. This engineering role is located in our site in Hengelo, you will be working together with colleagues located in the Hengelo, Plovdiv Bulgaria and the US to support our European customers.

Position responsibilities

  • Contribute to the success through Product Development activities in cross-functional global project teams with the responsibility for customer interaction, technical functionality and progress of the product design.

  • You are the key technical contact for customers and are expected to build a relationship with them through pro-active and open communication and visits.

  • You will potentially develop into a subject matter expert for topics related to joysticks, multi-function grips, and handlebar-mounted (motorbike) controls.

  • You will work in an automotive environment, according automotive standards. Amongst others this implies you follow established design and documentation processes and standards, you actively seek peer input during design reviews and provide constructive feedback when reviewing the designs of others.

  • You will work with well-known global agriculture, off-road or motorcycle OEMs or sub suppliers.

Position requirements

  • You have a Master or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design or comparable.

  • 2-5 years of relevant engineering work experience is preferred.

  • Customer focused; strive to find a win-win for both Sensata and customers.

  • Understanding of plastic injection molding and associated material properties.

  • Knowledge of haptics and material look-and-feel is a plus.

  • Experience in new product development from concept through production release is a plus.

  • Good verbal and written proficiency in English is a must, German is a plus.

  • CAD experience a plus. Creo is preferred.

  • Someone with a pro-active and persistent attitude to be able to solve problems and overcome obstacles. You can deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment.

  • Team player and strong communicator; able to work in multidisciplinary projects teams and communicates openly.

  • Travel requirements (10%):Occasional mainly in Europe to work with customers, suppliers or other Sensata sites (Plovdiv Bulgaria, Bloomington MN USA)
