Mechanical Design Engineer Mechanization
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for leading full cycle of new automation equipment and tool design to support our rapidly expanding electromechanical production lines. This process includes design, product validation, completing documentation and executing launch items for production. Complete all related drawings, documentations (including DFMEA/PFMEA) and release in internal systems. This position will be working with local and global engineering teams.
Use mechanical engineering and lean principles to design simple assembly tools and complex automated machines
Interact with internal customers to solicit product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
Team with vendors to procure components according to program schedules and budget
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to plan introduction and validate new equipment
Work with manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, project management, controls engineering and production personnel to integrate tools and equipment on new and existing production lines.
Maintain design documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned. Use engineering change management system to implement improvements and track changes.
Leverages engineering fundamentals, SMEs and org to make sound decisions on complex technical issues
Strongly influence design for manufacturability
Proactively challenge and drives the organization to deliver improved quality and performance related to engineering design
Required Education and Experience
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 4-6 years of experience or a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience or a combination of equivalent and relevant education and experience
Expertise in mechanical design using Solidworks 3D CAD
Oracle Agile PLM
Familiarity with manufacturing methods welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive dispensing and bonding, machining, stamping, molding and forming, precision assembly, leak testing, electrical functional testing
Basic understanding of PLC’s, automated systems, and electrical wiring
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers.
