Sensata Technologies, Inc. Strategic Sales Manager in Corona, California

Sensata Technologies is looking for a Strategic Sales Manager that will lead the development of strategic customers, products, and markets within the IoT space. The Strategic Sales Manager will be someone who has extensive experience developing, managing and growing customers, has a strong technical understanding of IoT solutions and product needs and the capabilities to define areas of growth both horizontally and vertically in our markets.


General Responsibilities

  • Oversees the evaluation, analysis, and formulation of business growth strategies

  • Identify prospective clients and work with the team to craft effective outreach initiatives

  • Oversee the development of key projects and is accountable for the successful closure of business deals

  • Collaborate with leadership on development of project proposals that effectively frame opportunities and articulate the steps and phases of a project

  • Manage the analysis of market trends and helping to translate them into our product roadmap

  • Define and develop new business opportunities with new and existing client stakeholders

  • Administrate analysis of existing business processes and provide recommendations for improvement

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 6+ years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 2-4years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers


Responsibilities include:

  • Achieve significant annual business closures targets with strategic accounts as defined.

  • Cultivates and develops key customer contacts at strategic accounts to enable the execution of buying process and business closures.

  • Engage in a consultative sales process with customers and prospects, devoting significant time in the field; working closely with the customer and internal teams to achieve a trusted advisor status to enable development and understanding for customer and market needs.

  • Lead the customer engagement and selling process at our strategic accounts, building a differentiated value proposition, influencing the buying process, leading contract negotiations and business closure.

  • Develop new solution opportunities within existing and new markets that create significant revenue opportunities. (Define the key value drivers by application, decision making matrix, buying process, customer specific return on investment, integration requirements, pricing models and strategy to win.)

  • Develop and maintain a specific account strategy for each strategic account that maximizes revenues. (Define the key value drivers by application, decision making matrix, buying process, customer specific return on investment, integration requirements, pricing models and strategy to win.)

  • Conduct assessments of needs and match to available product solutions and additional product opportunities across customers. (Develop market requirement document that includes customer critical-to-quality requirements and value for key applications and align to strategy to win.)

  • Create and validate pricing models with customers and markets that allow the maximization of profitability and growth of “…. as a Service” revenue.

  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations to prospective and existing customers

  • Host regular internal cross-functional reviews to monitor progress and report out to management and other internal and external stakeholders


  • In-depth knowledge of connected vehicle applications (heavy duty and light duty) and how IoT applications can be used to solve key issues.

  • Extensive experience in developing and defining customer and market needs and requirements.

  • Extensive experience selling hardware and software solutions in IoT verticals.

  • Ability to leverage an existing broad network of contacts (Customers and partners) in different IoT verticals.

  • High mechanical aptitude that translates into an understanding and comprehension of how IoT components, software and systems work with an ability to translate to product needs, requirements and value

  • Demonstrated public speaking skills with the ability to exhibit executive presence and establish credibility with an audience

  • Energetic, collaborative, self-motivated and autonomous with a strong desire to make a significant impact in a high growth environment

  • Structured thinking and strong analytical skills and a natural curiosity to understand customer problems and needs along with the value they deliver

  • 4+ years of experience in business creation and account management with product, service, solution development. Experience managing negotiations, contracts and business commitments.

  • Proven track record of delivering substantial business growth (strong hunter)

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work in a cross-functional environment and deliver results despite the ambiguity and complexity typically associated with emerging markets

  • Strong computer skills with extensive experience and proof points of developing and presenting business analysis, customer presentations and story boards in using Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other business tools

  • Ability to travel as needed
