Sensata Technologies, Inc. Process Development Engineer in Changzhou, China
Sensata Technologies is looking for a Process Engineer who will develop or modify our manufacturing processes to increase product performance, improve manufacturing efficiency and boost profits. This position works closely with Design Engineers, Equipment vendors, Program Managers, Marketing, and Quality Engineers to support the development of new electromechanical products. They are responsible for providing the overall process design and suggesting measures to improve product design for manufacturability. This includes the development of new equipment and process flows as well as developing cost estimates for labor and capital. They will also provide ongoing sustaining support to production lines at our global Make sites.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Develop new production processes and/or adapt existing production processes for the assembly, calibration and testing of automotive sensors.
Define specifications for production equipment and interact with equipment suppliers to ensure equipment will meet specifications.
Optimize and solve problems in existing production processes.
Participate in global NPD project teams to enable successful launch of new products.
Initiate improvement plans for efficiency, capacity, costs, lead time and quality of production.
Keep contact with other departments on process specifications, quality aspects, product specifications and continuity of equipment.
Provide inputs and guidelines to the Product Design Engineers to ensure Design for Maneuverability/Assembly of the new products in the early product development phase,
Interface with quality team, designer and mechanization team on process and product optimization.
Work with global team for new line installation and qualification.
A college degree and 6-12 years of experience (i.e. bachelor’s degree) or a graduate degree and 5-8 years of experience (i.e. master’s degree)
Good knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE).
Good understanding of Automotive PPAP / APQP / MSA requirements and Quality systems/tools.
Experience in New Product Development processes and manufacturing process.
Possess good interpersonal / communication skills and able to interface at all levels(international/oversea) with good English language ability in reading and writing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong project management skills to lead and participate multidisciplinary with global teams.
Preferred, but not required:
General knowledge in some technical manufacturing processes, including laser welding, basic and complex mechanical or electrical& software design,
Good knowledge in Lean Manufacturing,
Six Sigma Green /Black Belt holders will be an added advantage.
