Become a key member in the testing department of a fast-growing organization supporting product development and manufacturing engineering teams of high-power contactor devices.
Candidate will be responsible for conducting critical product development and validation tests that will help ensure a quality product is achieved while meeting customer specifications and industry standards.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Perform functional and endurance tests utilizing a variety of electrical and environmental test equipment such as: Mechanical Shock & Vibration, Temperature and Humidity chambers, Thermal Shock chambers, Current Carry stations, Functional Test instruments, Load Banks, and more.
Setup and use lab equipment per test requirement (Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Current and Voltage Probes, Data Loggers/Acquisitions, Signal Analyzers, Chatter Detectors, Digital Multimeters, Hipot Instruments, Resistance Meters, and Automated Test Equipment).
Operate semi-automated high-power equipment to identify product endurance and maximum performance capabilities. Testing power ranges should be expected to be in the Mega-Watt levels with voltages >1kV and current levels >1kA.
Analyze test setup and measurement results to identify key product performance characteristics.
Create detailed test reports using Microsoft office tools (word, excel, power point, project)
Communicate test results to team members including test and design engineers.
Oversee test equipment’s condition and ensures equipment is maintained, up to date, and functioning as expected
Construct custom test setups when needed to accomplish test requests (design and fabricate busbars, build various fixturing and custom test harnesses)
Follow Gigavac test lab procedures and perform lab duties necessary to successfully test GIGAVAC’s electromechanical products as required.

Associates Degree (A.A.) from a college, technical school, or university.
3-5 years related work experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree with engineering and physics background is preferred.
Demonstrative ability to setup and configure various lab equipment (Data Acquisitions, Oscilloscopes, Hipot Machines, Power Supplies, and more).
Previous hands on experience with environmental chambers: Temperature, Humidity, Thermal shock chambers. Mechanical Shock & Vibe experience and Electrical Load Bank testing experience is desired.
Demonstrative knowledge of electrical and mechanical fundamentals including current, voltage, resistance, power, magnetic fields, electrical safety, and troubleshooting practices.
Familiarity of high voltage arcing phenomena, magnetic actuator technology, and mechanical forces.
Ability to read and interpret oscilloscope measurements, circuits, wiring diagrams, as well as technical specifications.
Strong familiarity of product development phases, manufacturing product assembly processes, and product functional acceptance testing.
Hands on experience with tools/wrenches, soldering equipment, cutting tools, microscopes, etc.
Ability to follow detailed test instructions to setup and configure test station when conducting tests.
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong attention to detail is a must.
Effective time management skills are essential. Must be able to adjust priorities to changing schedules and meet testing schedules on time.
Demonstrate a positive team player spirit.
