Sensata Technologies, Inc. Product Quality Engineer in Carpinteria, California
JOB DUTIES: The Product Quality Engineer is responsible for assuring the quality performance of their assigned product family (or families). Lead and work collaboratively with a cross-functional Product Quality Steering Team (PQST) to guide and prioritize activities related to achieving targets for Customer Satisfaction and Cost of Poor Quality. Maintain quality documentation of Product Safety and Regulatory Requirements with support from Marketing and Engineering teams. Support investigations related to Quality stemming from New Business Opportunities. Provide feedback to Business leaders about quality related financial and non-financial performance of the assigned products. Define and execute Quality Improvement Plan (QIP). Implement various methods to lead the Product Quality Steering Team, including, but not limited to: data gathering, analysis and communication of results to the PQST team and management, manage lessons learned lifecycle, define Product Quality Improvement Plan to clearly communicate and monitor timing and effectiveness of Quality improvement initiatives, utilize Design and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to link Safety & Regulatory and Reliability requirements to proper product testing and production controls, verify test coverage and adherence to Safety and Regulatory require, developing internal standards of Quality, develop standards for supply chain Quality, and influence Strategic sourcing decisions. Champion for 8D’s within the assigned Product Family for the full lifecycle of the product including the Management of Product Integrity Alerts. Provide Technical Expertise from the perspective of the Product Quality role Warranty risk assessment, potential application effects (vehicle system), and potential impacts to customer production as required by the organization. Monitor relevant field and customer events for trends and escalate based on potential impacts regarding safety, regulatory, and finance.
25% international and domestic travel required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering and 5 years of experience being responsible for quality management and manufacturing processes. 5 years of experience must include: process and product design engineering management leveraging the Automotive Industry Action Group manual and quality tools including (i) Statistical Process Control, Measurement System Analysis, (ii) Production Process Approval Process, and (iii) Advanced Product Quality Planning.
5 years of experience must also include at least 3 years leveraging (i) Six Sigma Green Belt to solve process issues leveraging 8D, 5Why, Fishbone and Minitab; (ii) design failure modes and effects analysis; (iii) influencing leaders and decision makers at all levels of an organization; (iv) negotiating product changes with product owners; and (v) leveraging quality systems such as IATF 16949.
Certification required: IATF or TS 16949 internal auditor even if obtained from a previous employer.
OTHER (WORKSITE): 6382 Rose Ln. Carpinteria, CA 93013; 40 hours/week; up to 2 days working from home from a reasonable commuting distance to the office located at 6382 Rose Ln. Carpinteria, CA 93013. Annual Salary: $135,366.00/yr.
