Job Responsibilities

  • Apply mechanical engineering tools and concepts to design, develop and implement new manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment for new and existing products

  • Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines

  • Expand capacity and increase efficiency of manufacturing lines through implementing lean practices, automation, and process development

  • Continuously improve process through-put, cost effectiveness and process quality as part of operation excellence (yield, productivity, OEE, Poka-yoke, ppm)

  • Perform root-cause analysis of manufacturing defects and implement corrective actions through product, process, and tooling design changes

  • Use test data analysis to diagnose complex product performance and production challenges

  • Assure product and process quality by testing process capabilities and confirming manufacturing processes

  • Establish and maintain process documentation including WI / FMEA / control plan / process flow / SOP and provide training to mfg line personnel

  • Collaborate with design engineering and sales staff on new product release and design changes and Participate in advanced quality planning activities

  • Organizes planning and layout of manufacturing processes in an industrial plant

  • Define manufacturing strategies for zero-defects through implementing lean practices, automation, and process development

  • Define specifications for production equipment and interact with the plant process and quality engineers and/or equipment suppliers to ensure equipment will meet specifications

  • Establish, document, and communicate robust processes and DOE (design of experiments) results

Job Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering degree or related discipline and 2-4 years of experience or MBA and 1-2 years of experience

  • 3D CAD experience (Solidworks preferred)

  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE). Six Sigma Green /Black Belt certification is desirable

  • Strong understanding of advanced quality planning tools including FMEA, Control plans, etc. to meet TS16949 requirements

  • Experience working in a high-volume production environment

  • Demonstrated ability to solve engineering challenges using methodical scientific methods and documenting results

  • Knowledge of electrical function testing and electromechanical device calibration is desired but not mandatory

  • Experience working with automotive OEM’s and/or Tier 1 suppliers

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Able to work under pressure and manage competing demands and deadlines

  • Ability to manage ambiguity

  • Strong planning and organization skills

  • Ability to positively influence and build relationships with global team members

  • Proficient with MS Office programs

  • Demonstrated hands-on ability using basic hand tools, test and measuring equipment

  • Travel: 10%
