Sensata Technologies, Inc. Senior Firmware Engineer in Boise, Idaho

Sensata Technologies, a global industrial technology company and a leading provider of sensors, recently completed the acquisition of PRECO Electronics. Sensata’s products improve safety, efficiency, emissions and comfort for millions of people every day in transportation, appliance, aircraft, and industrial applications. Now, through this latest acquisition, Sensata and PRECO Electronics are working together to expand capabilities and product portfolio in heavy duty vehicles. Sensata is currently looking for a passionate and talented Senior Firmware Engineer to work with our team on developing advanced radar systems for heavy vehicle and off-road autonomy applications.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Developing complex firmware in C and assembly language following Sensata’s coding standards and in accordance with applicable software development methodology and release processes

  • Working closely with the radar development team to lead all aspects of the firmware product design life cycle - from initial software requirements capture, architectural design, coding design, implementation, test, and release to customers.

  • Provide critical input on radar signal processing and algorithm development

  • Lead implementation and use of engineering tools such as configuration management systems, build processes, and debuggers

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to coach, mentor and motivate team members

  • Promote positive disruption to challenge the status quo and encourage an environment of continuous improvement and learning

  • Lead and signoff on peer code reviews

Specific Experience and Skills Required:

  • Firmware development in C and assembly language to MISRA standard on bare metal designs

  • Proficient use of advanced development/debugging tools, e.g., C compilers, linkers, ICE, logic analyzers, requirements capture tools, bug/issue tracking tools

  • Experience with design verification and validation, including design reviews, code reviews, test plans

  • Radar systems; implementation of object detection, tracking, perception, classification

  • SW implementation for FMCW radar systems on NXP HW

  • 8-12+ years’ experience in an Embedded Software role

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization

  • BS Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or other technical

Desired Background and Skills:

  • Radar system and autonomous vehicle design

  • MATLAB/Python development experience

  • Multicore processor development

  • Experience with serial communication protocols such as I2C, SPI or similar methods

  • Ethernet, CAN protocols including j1939 and UDS

  • AUTOSAR development experience

  • Algorithm optimization experience with PowerPC SPE architecture

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques

  • Windows based Engineering tool software application development

  • Ability to work and communicate well in a small team environment
