Sensata Technologies, Inc. Radar Engineering Technician in Boise, Idaho
This Engineering Technician will support the engineering team in hardware and systems development by designing and building test equipment, building prototypes, debugging electrical circuits, executing test plans at both component and system level and documenting test results. The technician will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and system engineers on the autonomy team to develop and validate new radar solutions for heavy vehicle and off-road applications.
Develop and build mechanical and electrical fixtures for radar calibration, characterization, and system test
Execute radar calibration/characterization with clear and accessible documentation of results
Execute radar field testing including both fixed and on-vehicle test setups
Execute microwave testing on radar systems including spectrum analysis, target simulation, and interference testing
Build antenna and module prototypes for both customer and internal use
Develop test data collection, fixtures, and reporting methods for radar validation testing
Execute electrical and mechanical product validation testing per customer standards
Conduct electrical and mechanical failure analysis based on test results
Detailed technical reporting of test and sample build results
Maintain and continuously improve radar lab equipment, tools, and supplies
Work closely with engineers and other technicians to execute product development
Experience / Qualifications:
College degree with 4-6 years experience or at least 6 years equivalent work experience as an engineering technician
Experience with setup of custom data acquisition and electrical tests
Experience with electrical and mechanical failure analysis
Experience executing validation testing per customer engineering standards
Working knowledge of all common electronic test equipment such as function generators, power supplies, and oscilloscopes
Ability to work in a team of numerous individuals in a fast paced and dynamic environment and be flexible and able to move from a given assigned task to another assigned task on short notice
Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
Desired Background and Skills:
Experience using LabView, Matlab, or Arduino for custom test and measurement setups
Experience designing fixtures and prototypes in SolidWorks
Experience with machining and prototype fabrication
