The Electrical Engineering Professional is responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems. As a Sr. Electrical Engineer (EE) at Sensata you will be part of a project team working on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems and strain-gauge based pressure sensors. You will be expected to have the skills, knowledge and drive to create new and novel solutions to the challenges we face daily. Projects will provide frequent opportunities for collaboration among cross functional team environments as we work together to solve problems. In all projects, you will be challenged as an individual technical contributor, while some projects may also utilize your leadership skills to direct the activities of other engineers as a project lead. Your responsibilities will include developing new circuits and signal processing algorithms to extend the state of the art in pressure sensor performance, apply statistical techniques to data analysis, guide ASIC design at various vendors, and educate customers about product capabilities. You will also be responsible for electrical product design tasks from concept to production including electrical schematics, component selection with performance/quality/cost trade-off analysis, prototype builds, design verification testing, and hand-off for production. Your input will be integral in management of projects including development costs, product unit costs, project task scheduling with critical path management.
Creates designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges
Leads feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
Develops testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch
Responsible for failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations
Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce design reports, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures
Leads a team that includes senior engineers/managers for the purpose of engaging with customers in soliciting product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Development of new circuits and signal processing algorithms to extend the state of the art performance in pressure sensors.
Benchmarking designs and identify elements that limit performance.
Presentation of new ideas, including justification of the design approaches and objective assessment of feedback.
Support product development and high-volume production as member of cross-functional team.
Interface with customers on key design issues.
Guide vendors in development of new ASICs and develop understanding of vendor standard products.
Apply statistical methods to data analysis.
Design and conduct experiments to prove new theories and concepts.
Other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Master’s student in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 3 years’ experience in analog and digital circuit design. Ph.D. degree would be a plus.
Experience with creative hands-on design of analog and digital electrical circuits.
Ability to perform and interpret analysis of circuits.
Strong analytical background and knowledge of statistical techniques is required.
Knowledge of digital signal processing and ability to implement complex microcontroller code.
Strong technical communication skills for customer, vendor, and internal dialog.
Background in qualifying integrated circuits to AEC-Q standards is desirable.
