The Senior Technical Accountant will be expected to partner and collaborate with various cross-functional stakeholders on new and complex transactions to understand, research and document the accounting treatment in policies and position papers. This ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starter who has a good grasp on accounting principles (prior experience in revenue recognition, lessor accounting or purchase price accounting would be a plus). This person must be an excellent communicator, both verbally and written. Strong people skills are a must to effectively work with a wide range of roles at differing levels.


General Responsibilities

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile financial information

  • Analyze current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.

  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.

  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending

  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process

  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule

  • Support month-end and year-end close process

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

  • Liaise with management to improve financial procedures

  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers


Additional Responsibilities

  • Interpret U.S. GAAP and IFRS accounting standards to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for complex and/or unusual transactions or agreements (previous experience with ASC 606 and ASC 805 recommended)

  • Prepare technical accounting whitepapers for significant transactions

  • Proactively partner and collaborate with accounting operations, other finance functions, key business stakeholders, internal audit and external auditors

  • Prepare, review and analyze financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting

  • Execute on monthly closing procedures by preparing monthly journal entries and accounting reconciliations

  • Own the end to end accounting process for certain areas rolling into technical accounting such as stock-based compensation, pension plans and equity impacting transactions

  • Execute and deliver upon ad hoc projects that arise for complex or unusual transactions or agreements

  • Maneuver and execute required reporting and analysis through retrieval of data from Oracle EBS and Oracle Analytics
