Sensata Technologies, Inc. Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Attleboro, Massachusetts
The Sr. Electrical Design Engineer (EE) will be part of a project team working on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems, and capacitive and strain-gauge based sensors. We are looking for people with the knowledge, skills, and drive to create new and novel sensing solutions. Projects will provide frequent opportunities for collaboration in cross functional team environments as we work together to solve problems and create solutions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Identify and document requirements for off the shelf Integrated Circuit (IC) selection and custom ASIC development
Work with IC vendors to develop and qualify custom IC solutions
Support sensor teams in working with new ICs and help standardize the ASIC development process
Design new circuits and signal processing algorithms to enhance sensor performance, apply statistical methods to data analysis, and educate customers on product capabilities.
You will also be responsible for electrical product design tasks from concept to production including electrical schematics, component selection with performance, quality, & cost trade-off analysis, prototype build, design verification testing and test automation. Your inputs will contribute to project management including technology selection, development and unit costs estimation, task scheduling and critical path management. You will be challenged as an individual technical contributor and have opportunities to use your leadership skills to direct the activities of other engineers as a project lead.
Specify IC & ASIC requirements, and generate specifications
Participate in IC supplier selection
Support corporate IC development infrastructure
Design new sensor circuits and signal processing algorithms
Benchmark designs and identify elements that enhance or limit performance
Interface with customers on key issues
Model & simulate concepts to reduce design cycle time and increase result accuracy
Design and conduct experiments to prove new theories and concepts
Work with and implement digital communication protocols such as CAN, LIN & SENT
Develop automated test capability for experimentation and design validation
Apply statistical methods to data analysis
Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 3 to 5 years’ experience in analog and digital circuit design
Ability to perform and interpret analysis of circuits
Experience with simulation (Spice) and modeling (Matlab)
Knowledge of digital signal processing, ability to implement microcontroller code
Knowledge of Integrated Circuit (IC) design and fabrication
Experience with digital protocols such as I2C, SPI, CAN, LIN, SENT
Knowledge of test automation and scripting languages such as Python and/or Lua
Strong technical communication skills for customer, vendor, and internal dialog
Background in qualifying integrated circuits to Automotive standards is desirable
