Sensata Technologies, Inc. Senior Electrical Design Engineer in Attleboro, Massachusetts
As a Senior Automation and Control Design Engineer at Sensata, you will be tasked to work as an individual contributor within a dedicated and talented engineering team. This will involve designing, testing, installing and maintaining production line manufacturing equipment in a global environment. This position requires the one to take ownership of all aspects of the design project including defining the hardware control system architecture, system software development, configuration management and creating documentation packages.
This position requires the individual to be able to work within multi-disciplined product teams to ensure that the end system is both cost effective and optimal to meet the needs of the business.
Bachelor of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
In depth of knowledge of computer programming techniques and architecture development and have experience with object-oriented principles and patterns
Strong C/C++/C# skills
Ability to specify components is support of the design of a control system (e.g., motion control, temperature control, power distribution, and low voltage control, etc.)
Design of control panel layouts based on industry best practices
In depth knowledge of machine safety risk assessment and safety system design (e.g., E-stops, Interlocks and guarding)
Understanding of network systems architectures, system management and network protocols
Produce technical documentation, which includes system functional design, technical design, use cases, and technical release documents
Lead or participate in engineering design reviews as required
Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests
Ability to communicate and interface well with other members of a multi discipline development team
7+ years of related experience working on system hardware/software design, test and integration
Approximately 20% international travel
Experience in related areas would be a plus:
Knowledge of OPC UA
Knowledge of Solid Works Electrical
Knowledge of embedded systems based on various custom/COTS ASICs and related protocol interfaces (LIN, SENT, MUST, FMUST, One Wire, etc.)
PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi products
Knowledge of Cognex and Keyence vision systems
