Sensata Technologies, Inc. Senior Counsel, Global Privacy & Data Policy in Attleboro, Massachusetts
Sensata is seeking a business-oriented attorney with experience in global privacy laws and regulations to join our growing legal team. Based in Attleboro, MA, you will be responsible for providing privacy and data protection-related advice and support to our global business teams. You must have significant experience running a global privacy organization for a US multinational and excellent business judgment and sound-decision making in balancing risk, opportunity, and business objectives.
Acts as advisor on a variety of legal matters, including coordinating with external counsel
Analyze and summarize complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggesting modifications to those documents
Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for the company
Guide the company and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Reviews legal data and advises organization on appropriate legal action to be taken
Researches laws, anticipates and guards company against legal risks
Prepare legal documents, policies and contracts, accurately and in a timely manner
Participate in company audits to ensure full compliance to all local, state and federal laws
Develop internal and external messages related to disputes, legal issues and media inquiries
Perform due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions
Stay inform about current legislation, especially concerning legal specialties
Represent organization in legal proceedings
Directs internal and external counsel performing litigation on the company’s behalf
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 6+ years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 2-4years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
JD from an accredited law school
At least 10+ years working in privacy-related issues across multiple jurisdictions
Relevant certifications (e.g., IAPP CIPP/E and CIPM)
Significant experience running a global privacy organization for a US multinational
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Expert knowledge & demonstrated experience with privacy & data protection law/practices; in depth understanding of GDPR and various state privacy laws
Work with senior management, including our IT, cybersecurity and risk officers, to establish governance for the privacy program
Experience working in a global organization, and in leading/managing a privacy team across multiple jurisdictions
Perform or oversee periodic privacy risk assessments, analysis, mitigation and remediation
Actively provide advice and support to our product development teams in their design, development and implementation of products involving user data
Experience in privacy integration matters in relation to global M&A-related transactions
Update privacy policies and develop/deliver/oversee privacy training to colleagues
Good business judgment and sound-decision making in balancing risk, opportunity, and business objectives
Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with and influencing client groups
Ability to run a strategic and comprehensive international privacy program
Ability to set and manage multiple priorities in line with corporate strategic needs in a fast-paced environment
