Sensata Technologies, Inc. Senior Counsel, Global Privacy & Data Policy in Attleboro, Massachusetts

Sensata is seeking a business-oriented attorney with experience in global privacy laws and regulations to join our growing legal team. Based in Attleboro, MA, you will be responsible for providing privacy and data protection-related advice and support to our global business teams. You must have significant experience running a global privacy organization for a US multinational and excellent business judgment and sound-decision making in balancing risk, opportunity, and business objectives.


General Responsibilities

  • Acts as advisor on a variety of legal matters, including coordinating with external counsel

  • Analyze and summarize complicated legal documents, including contracts, and suggesting modifications to those documents

  • Interpret laws, rulings and regulations for the company

  • Guide the company and ensure compliance with rules and regulations

  • Reviews legal data and advises organization on appropriate legal action to be taken

  • Researches laws, anticipates and guards company against legal risks

  • Prepare legal documents, policies and contracts, accurately and in a timely manner

  • Participate in company audits to ensure full compliance to all local, state and federal laws

  • Develop internal and external messages related to disputes, legal issues and media inquiries

  • Perform due diligence in legal matters concerning contracts, agreements, and mergers and acquisitions

  • Stay inform about current legislation, especially concerning legal specialties

  • Represent organization in legal proceedings

  • Directs internal and external counsel performing litigation on the company’s behalf

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 6+ years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 2-4years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers



  • JD from an accredited law school

  • At least 10+ years working in privacy-related issues across multiple jurisdictions

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., IAPP CIPP/E and CIPM)

  • Significant experience running a global privacy organization for a US multinational

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Expert knowledge & demonstrated experience with privacy & data protection law/practices; in depth understanding of GDPR and various state privacy laws

  • Work with senior management, including our IT, cybersecurity and risk officers, to establish governance for the privacy program

  • Experience working in a global organization, and in leading/managing a privacy team across multiple jurisdictions

Perform or oversee periodic privacy risk assessments, analysis, mitigation and remediation

  • Actively provide advice and support to our product development teams in their design, development and implementation of products involving user data

  • Experience in privacy integration matters in relation to global M&A-related transactions

  • Update privacy policies and develop/deliver/oversee privacy training to colleagues

  • Good business judgment and sound-decision making in balancing risk, opportunity, and business objectives

  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with and influencing client groups

  • Ability to run a strategic and comprehensive international privacy program

  • Ability to set and manage multiple priorities in line with corporate strategic needs in a fast-paced environment
