Sensata Technologies, Inc. Quality CoE - Quality Director in Attleboro, Massachusetts

The Quality Assurance Director is responsible for directing all internal quality improvements and customer quality reports, as well as taking part in the global quality system improvement activities.


General Responsibilities

  • Directs all assigned quality assurance team members while reporting team successes and opportunities to the Director of Quality Assurance and Development

  • Oversees the sharing and implementation of best practices across all business units

  • Directs the activities of the Quality Management System

  • Oversees time management and operational support

  • Directs and produces Quality Assurance measures and metrics which report any trends or process improvement opportunities for each project

  • Directs the training and other required activities for the department

  • Oversees internal control failure remediation efforts

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 10-12 years of experience

  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers



Develop and deploy a Quality Operating System and Performance Management Process to support the implementation of the Quality Strategy and CI plan consistently across all Businesses in Sensata Technologies.


  • Continuously update the Quality CI Plan in line with the Quality Strategy and Results Ensure continuous alignment of customer specific requirements, industry standards and SENSATA Quality Operating System.

  • Develop and deploy global quality processes supporting the Quality Operating System across the business units and sites Set up regular performance management reviews to align Quality Strategy, CI Plan, results and KPI.

  • Work closely with the Quality Leaders and functional teams to develop and deploy the fully integrated Sensata Quality Operating System. Create smart Software solutions for effective reporting of quality KPI and results in daily, weekly and monthly reviews (example: Track-Wise, AGILE, etc)

  • Compile the monthly Quality Reports and other ad hoc quality reports with support from the business units and quality teams.

  • Standardize Quality reporting across SENSATA.

  • Monitor accuracy and timeliness of reporting and improvement actions.

  • Analyse quality data for trends and patterns to focus the Quality CI action plan.

  • Maintain the Quality Website and other Quality Team Collaboration sites.

  • Manage the Quality Back-Office and Quality Contractors including the quality subscription register.

  • Participate in CI projects to reduce variation and Cost of Non-Quality Create a Global Sensata Quality Audit Program, including consulting and training of SENSATA Quality Operating System.

  • Set-up a Quality Costing Model (P-A-F) to monitor the Cost of Non-Quality and to drive CI activities.

  • Manage the Quality Academy to continuously improve the quality teams’ skills and competence in best practice quality techniques.

  • Create a lesson learned platform to share best practice / lessons learned across Sensata.

  • Create strong NETWORK amongst Quality professionals so that Lessons Learned, Best in Class practices are systematically and easily shared across the globe.

  • Liaise with the Business Units & Plant Management teams to define Quality continuous improvement plans & targets.

  • Ensure SENSATA Quality Operating System & performance requirements are understood and communicated within the Business Units and Functions.

  • Implement a Communication Strategy to keep the quality network and other key stakeholders updated on key quality matters.

  • Implement a Quality Competition to create focus and excitement eg. Celebrate World Quality Day in November, Quality Olympics, etc.

  • Support the SENSATA Quality Committee in the ongoing development and improvement of the SENSATA Quality Operating System with internal and external benchmark data.


  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a fast moving highly engineered products manufacturing environment including design and development activities and outsourced manufacturing

  • Minimum 5 years Quality Leadership Experience and leading a global team in different time zones

  • Certified Quality Auditor (ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 and/or VDA 6.3)


  • Fluent in English

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) in conveying the needs of all interested parties, including supplier interface.

  • Previous experience in a global quality leadership role in Automotive minimum 5 years is mandatory.

  • Specific Quality Functional Capabilities, Knowledge & Skills

  • IATF 1649 & Automotive OEM requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the Core Quality Tools, including problem solving

  • Preferable: Six Sigma Black Belt and LEAN experience

  • Role requires moderate amount of travel, both foreign and domestic
