Our work combines elements of several engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Material Sciences & Business); we use many technologies and materials to turn physical parameters (e.g. pressure, temperature, acceleration, position, speed, current, humidity, etc.) into analog or digital electrical signals which our customers use to control important systems. We seek out mission-critical applications where our devices must work or else there are consequences for safety, emissions, or violation of a regulation.
Sensata engineers are exposed to the full product cycle. Our engineers get a lot of responsibility very quickly and our experienced colleagues are always willing to provide needed guidance. The decisions and actions of our entry level engineers have a direct and immediate impact on our products and our customers.
This position is located in our Attleboro, Massachusetts headquarters location, commutable from Boston, MA and Providence, RI.
Full ownership of product design and development.
Technology selection, conceptual design, detail design, prototyping.
Development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch.
Continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
Frequent interaction with customers and internal management.
Producing and maintaining drawings and specifications.
Collaboration with internal colleagues, and suppliers.
Meeting and exceeding customer requirements and expectations on schedule and in budget.
Learning about in-house and supplier manufacturing technologies.
Learning about customer systems where our parts are used.
You will join as a critical member of fast paced multidiscipline team supporting actively growing sensors business with full ownership of sensor product design, development and evaluation primarily for the automotive industry. You will develop and maintain business relationships with external customers to specify and design products to meet their requirements. Prototype development and evaluation testing along with customer testing support are a subset of regular activities. Additionally you will support design work to improve performance, quality, and cost on existing products.
BS Engineering (Applied Science considered)
Experience in controls, sensing, data analysis and validation testing desired
Background in magnetic materials
Previous support of automotive sensor/system support is desirable
Strong team leadership and team membership skills.
Strong sense of individual responsibility.
Work with other orgs (quality, marketing, purchasing, process engineering, suppliers, customers)
Must be able to influence others.
Evidence of participation in team-based project work and ability to fill multiple roles.
Ability to understand higher-level aspect of project. Ability to take responsibility for things outside your direct control.
