The Welding CoE Technician is responsible for supporting engineers in the development of welding processes (most commonly resistance and laser welding processes). The technician is involved in the planning, execution, and documentation of welding experimentation.
A successful candidate will be able to review action lists provided by CoE engineers, prioritize and execute the associated tasks, and document the process and results thoroughly. Although not required, the ability to conduct basic machining and/or electrical wiring operations is strongly desired.
Design Engineering Technician
This position is in support of the design and development of sensor products used primarily in the transportation segment. These sensors are used to measure pressure, temperature, speed and position using a variety of technologies (capacitive/piezo-resistive/magnetic/etc.)
Candidate will be responsible for:
Supporting design engineers with performance and durability testing, prototyping, design documentation and product and process analysis of electro-mechanical sensors
Performing test set up and data collection; statistically analyze and summarize engineering data collected from experiments and durability testing
Working in teams to provide the required support effort for successful project completion, and continuously improving processes and design methods
A.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
This role requires a hands-on candidate with strong mechanical build and testing skills to support both sustaining products and new product development
The job requires both individual and team interaction in meeting policy deployment goals where interaction with other design technicians and engineers will be interlaced with potential interaction with process engineers, marketing engineers and purchasing personnel
The work environment is challenging, fast paced, and involves analytical thinking and design with hands-on experimentation and testing

Work assignments are based on team efforts and individuals have the ability to move from one project to another
We achieve our business goals inside of a rigorous TS/ISO quality environment
Additional skills that are of value are a broad range of computer usage skills such as SolidWorks, machining skills on a range of machine shop tools (drills, presses, lathes, etc.), good written communications skills, and general automotive and/or mechanical experience
Work in a lab environment with multiple engineers to support the development of welded sub-assemblies.
Review, plan, execute, analyze and document welding experiments
Plot and interpret data
Measure, assemble, disassemble, and analyze device components using appropriate tools and/or designated equipment.
Independently manage time and prioritize tasks to complete multiple actions from various projects simultaneously.
Experience / Qualifications
A.S. in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
6+ years of technical experience
Ability to work in a team of cross-functional members in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Ability to read and follow test specifications, standards, and procedures.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical test equipment and components.
Working knowledge of simple hand tools (drills, wrenches, etc.)
Working knowledge of basic mechanical test equipment (calipers, micrometers, force gauges)
Working knowledge of basic electrical test equipment (multimeter, power supplies, data loggers)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Fluent in English with effective communication skills to discuss complex technical topics with engineers and other technicians
Experience with basic machining operations (drilling, milling, turning, etc).
Experience with resistance/laser/ultrasonic welding equipment/processes.
Experience with Labview, Minitab, Solidworks preferred.
