The Global Sourcing team within our Global Operations organization is seeking a Global Category Leader, Capital Equipment to provide leadership and support to develop and implement global sourcing strategies for Capital Equipment (manufacturing expansion lines, New Product manufacturing lines and lab and test equipment) portfolio across all Sensata business units and Operations. The incumbent will have detailed knowledge about equipment, materials and suppliers used in manufacturing, assembly, calibration and test. The Category Leader will evaluate new and existing suppliers along with a cross-functional teams to drive the sourcing and negotiation of capital projects globally. The Category Leader will drive analytics to identify ways to minimize “total cost of ownership” while maximizing service; manage the relationships and performance with the strategic suppliers; and develop partnerships with those suppliers to achieve organizational objectives and goals. Ensure sourcing efforts leverage market intelligence, should‐cost modeling, TCO analysis, and e-Sourcing techniques & tools. Implement procedures for reviewing supplier performance against contracted obligations/service levels and business expectations. Provide guidance to tactical procurement teams. Ensure process integrity through compliance with internal policies and controls, laws, regulations, and ethical standards set by the company and government authorities, specifically ITAR and EAR. Drives a culture change of continuous improvement and organization excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and drive Capital procurement strategies to optimize lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

  • Participate in the capital budgeting process with the BU and Operations teams

  • Analyze CapEx needs across the BUs and Operations to recognize opportunities to bundle same or similar items for savings

  • Collaborate with plant leadership/engineering to achieve lowest of ownership through a combination of commercial and engineering levers

  • Develop, lead, evaluate and negotiate proposals with new and existing suppliers to obtain the maximum benefit for the company (lead-time, cost and quality) working alongside Operations, Engineering and New Product Development stakeholders

  • Assist the BUs with the development of individual capital expense request (CER) process

  • Negotiate with and manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, performance guarantees, schedule adherence, trade working capital and quality

  • Adopt appropriate supplier management and rating methodologies

  • Ensure supplier performance to metrics (KPI’s) and drives initiatives to ensure goals are met and delivered on-schedule

  • Act as a partner/mentor for the regional and site purchasing team who manage low-value projects to ensure processes and policies are followed

  • Function as liaison between stakeholders and vendors as a single point of contact for all Corporate Commercial terms, Vendor performance and issues resolution management

  • Create forums for cross functional cost reduction projects and manage execution accordingly

  • Ensure key negotiations are being delivered; coach Regional teams and Make site team as required

  • Management and advocacy of procurement processes

  • Utilization of strategic procurement policies, procedures, guidelines and tools

  • Utilization of contracts management, negotiation and market intelligence skills

  • Utilization of spend and price analytics skills

  • Ensure commercial, legal and contractual compliances in all Capital Equipment procurement transactions

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in purchasing, engineering, or business administration

  • 5+ years of Sourcing or Procurement experience

  • Experience performing in a complex, matrixed environment

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies yielding measurable business results

  • 10-15% travel is expected

Additional preferred skills/experience:

  • Oracle ERP Experience desired (R11 and/or R12)

  • Proficient with Microsoft suites

  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing experience strongly desired

  • ISM certification (CPM, CPSM, etc.)
