Sensata Technologies, Inc. Automation and Control Design Engineer in Attleboro, Massachusetts
JOB DUTIES: Design, test, install and maintain production line manufacturing equipment in a global environment. Responsible for software upgrades to machines at the company make sites, including pushing code, validation testing, Process Engineering and Product Engineering sign off. Responsible for new equipment design, including electrical controls, software architecture, communications protocols, safety and supervising build, validation testing and qualification of the equipment. Respond to equipment failures at the company make-sites, including assisting the production engineering teams remotely if there is an issue with a machine to determine root cause. Travel to company make sites to install new equipment and/or perform major software updates to machines.
20% international travel required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Science and 2 years of experience in Automation and Controls Design Engineering. 2 years of experience in each of the following: Computer programming techniques and architecture development, including object-oriented principles and pattern; C/C++/C#; Specify components and design control circuits (e.g., motor controls, machine safety, temperature control, power distribution, and low voltage control); Network systems architectures and management; Participate in engineering design reviews as required; Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform system tests; Embedded systems based on various custom/COTS ASICs and related protocol interfaces (LIN,SENT, MUST, FMUST, One Wire, I2C,etc.); PLC programming experience with Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi products; Fault finding electrical issues without supervision; Using Multimeters, Oscilloscopes and other test equipment; Programming with PLC and PC based languages; Experience with communication protocols such as SENT, I2C, LIN, or OPCUA; Design/fault find code for machines that are PLC,PC or a PLC/PC mix to perform automation tasks such as servo drives, ovens, pressure controllers; and Design and fault find electrical control systems (schematics, power distribution etc. )
Alternatively, employer will require a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Science. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OTHER: Job site: 529 Pleasant Street, Attleboro, MA 02703; 40 hours/week; Hybrid 2 days work from home within a reasonable commuting distance to the office located at 529 Pleasant Street, Attleboro, MA 02703 permitted.
