Sensata Technologies is recruiting a Senior Systems Engineer to develop systems and products for Heavy and Off-road vehicles.
OE and Commercial fleets are seeking to deploy smart and connected devices across trucks and trailers in order to generate actionable insight to reduce operating costs, improve uptime enhance safety and meet regulations. As a Senior Systems Engineer you will work within a cross-functional team to develop systems for multiple sensing applications and deliver unique system solutions which provide high value to our end customers.
The selected candidate will join a highly motivated and growing team
Conducts established procedures and guidelines to configure and install information systems (including hardware and software) that have been purchased by the organization's customers
Conducts routine enquiries from the organization's sales force or customers about the technical aspects of the organization's information systems and products
Handles systems specifications and formalized representations of solutions (for example, flow charts, models) to configure systems that meet customer needs
Handles technical documentation to guide system users and to assist with the ongoing operation, maintenance, and development of the system
Develop skills and knowledge of the organization’s products and services by working closely with the engineering and sales team
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Main duties will include:
Providing technical leadership within cross functional team
Leading hands-on proof-of-concept demonstrations to customers and development partners
Working closely with customer technical and project personnel
Eliciting both external and internal stakeholder requirements for new products / features / technology developments
Systems Architecture development with roadmaps to increase feature sets, reduce cost, pursue integration opportunities and increase quality
Working closely with internal Sensata detailed sub system design teams to refine implementation of products / features / technologies & specifications to ensure they meet stakeholder’s needs.
Modelling of system behaviour and development of vehicle integration level test tools for use in proving grounds and on road test environments
Performing the role of product owner in a cross functional agile team, working within an ASPICE compliment development process
Deploying functionality either on Sensata developed hardware or working on integration projects with world class development partners.
Creating and delivering training courses to Customers, peers and other engineering staff.
Leading issue resolution investigations, capturing and sharing lessons learned to other engineering staff.
Developing and supporting junior systems design engineers.
Essential Criteria :
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
Minimum of BEng degree in Electronics, Software or a related engineering discipline with 5 years + relevant experience
Customer facing role will require occasional foreign travel.
5 years+ in a systems design role
Automotive CAN bus experience.
Use of CAN tools such as CANoe and CANdelaStudio.
Knowledge of Requirements Management tools
Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture or other UML tools
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodology
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and deliver results
Experience developing products/systems compliant to ASPICE
Experience using Atlassian JIRA
Please note that occasional travel will be required for equipment installation and support.
