Sensata Technologies is recruiting a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to develop Electronic Solutions within our Electrification Team as part of the CTO organisation.
As a Senior Hardware Design Engineer, you will work within a cross-functional team to develop electronic solutions for the Electrification engineering activities within Sensata and with key partners and customers. You will have the opportunity to work on innovative projects focusing initially on Electric Vehicle applications.
Designs and develops equipment, processes and systems that include, but are not limited to data networks, communications, and display
Analyzes equipment specifications and process requirements to conceive a practical design
Determines feasibility from technical and economic perspectives
Consult with research engineers or scientists and customer representatives to resolve design problems
Ensures compliance with technical procedures, documentation and manuals
Reviews the work of technicians and technologists who provide technical support
Experience / Qualifications
A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)
Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
Design and development of electronic hardware, and associated supporting data, within the Battery Management product range.
Development of existing and creation of new products through electronic design of circuits and systems.
Overseeing the allocation of responsibility for specific component development within the team, ensuring best use in design and production applications.
Responsible for ensuring developing in line with design specifications for automotive electronics, including electrical system specification, mechanical and environmental specification, EMI/EMC specification, High Voltage system specification.
Review of customer specifications, standards and other documentation, identifying and extracting information relevant to the implementation of products and projects. Co-ordination of this activity with other team members, as required.
Co-ordinate the building of prototypes in lab, testing, validation and de-bugging for parts/products within remit.
Drive deliverables against development plans, ensuring that customer and internal milestones are met.
Develop DOE tests, Designer tests, Validation tests and Test-To-Failure plans as and when required.
Providing leadership for less experienced/junior members of the team
Expertise in electrical circuit design, PCB layout, component selection, design analysis, prototyping and testing for embedded systems
Knowledge and experience of hardware engineering processes and standards
Experience with wired communications standards, e.g. CAN, CANopen, J1939, IO-Link, Modbus, Profi Bus
Experience in electrical design for RF systems
Experience in functional safety and cybersecurity design
Experience in design of electronics for High Voltage battery-powered devices
Experience in electronics designer testing using National Instruments or similar tools
Excellent knowledge and experience with hardware analysis tools such as DFMEA, FTA, Worst Case Analysis.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team development environment
Experienced with Altium Designer and Vault
