The Senior Benefits Consultant, reporting the Director of Global Benefits, serves as the lead subject matter expert across the European region and is responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration and communication of comprehensive employee benefit and retirement programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with regulations and the company’s Total Reward strategic objectives.

General Responsibilities

  • Administrates conducting analyses on programs and policies to ensure that they are being administered effectively and in accordance with the organization’s reward strategy

  • Manages internal personnel regarding employee benefit related knowledge and skill sets to determine current benefit trends and compare with legislated requirement and programs

  • Manages the design and implementation of programs such as accident and health insurance coverage, retirement and pension plans, income continuance holidays, and vacation time

  • Manages local and global surveys on current benefit trends, pricing and policies

  • Administrates communicating the benefits program and policies effective to the company. Ensures proper communication regarding any change or updates

  • Administrates any coverage or claim procedures, and maintains updated files of information for each reported incident

  • Manages modeling cost analyses of various program or policy updates

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Specific Responsibilities

  • In partnership with a benefit broker, strategize on benefit plan renewals throughout the European region which will require the comparative analysis of survey market data, insurer proposals and insurer quotations, statutory requirements, and employee/employer impact.

  • Conduct cost analyses and prepare to present to management before selecting benefit program changes and/or new benefits.

  • Manage the initiation of annual benefit rates for each country in Europe, in support of financial annual planning.

  • Perform regular checks on compliance regulations and provide change recommendations to the company.

  • Supports M&A integration efforts and initiatives which requires the comparative analysis of benefit programs and financial impact which may require the planning, developing, and redesigning of company benefits programs.

  • Partners with the Senior Compensation Consultant Europe to provide holistic view and strategy on total remuneration and M&A activities.

  • Provide counsel and communication on benefits programs to business management, HR and employees.

  • Effectively develop and manage internal business stakeholder and external vendor relationships.

  • Establish a workplace culture that supports every facet of health: mental, emotional, physical well-being and leads communication efforts, implementation and education initiatives.

  • Provide support to the Total Rewards team on global projects when needed.

Specific Experience / Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with benefit programmes in Europe

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of regulatory/legislative requirements in Europe.

  • Experience with M&A integration initiatives and activities associated with the analysis and comparison of benefit plans and policies and legislative requirements.
