Sensata Technologies is recruiting a Technical Manager to lead development of Sensing Applications which will be hosted on the Vehicle Area Network in our Smart & Connected growth initiative within the Sensata Ventures organisation.
Commercial fleets are seeking to deploy smart and connected devices across trucks and trailers to generate actionable insight to reduce operating costs, improve uptime and enhance safety. As the Applications Development Group Manager you will be responsible for leading multiple cross-functional teams to integrate multiple sensing applications and deliver unique system solutions which provide high value to our end customers.
This role reports to the Engineering Director for Smart & Connected (based in Antrim) and the selected candidate will join a highly motivated and growing team within a new ventures organisation at Sensata charged with incubating and commercialising new technologies.
Leadership of multiple cross-functional teams to execute projects according to agreed development processes.
Communication of project status to internal and external stakeholders.
Line management responsibility for team members, with a strong people-focus to facilitate high levels of collaboration and motivation.
Technical leadership of sensing applications from early concept to production readiness.
Training and personal development of team members to effectively plan, execute and report on Solution Development activities.
Prepare and review technical offering and development quotes for new business opportunities.
Review and reporting of development KPIs to support delivery of high quality solutions.
In collaboration with Functional Team Managers, develop tools, capabilities and processes to ensure the continuous improvement of personnel and department skill and capabilities.
The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
8+ years post-university industrial experience
BEng degree in Electronics, Software, Mechanical or a related engineering discipline
Leadership experience in development of automotive electronics, wireless systems or related technologies
Proven capability to assess early-stage technology concepts (TRL 0-3) and lead teams to assess technical feasibility
Strong understanding of the principles of Embedded and Wireless systems architectures and development phases to effectively lead your team and critique their work
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and deliver results despite the ambiguity and complexity typically associated with emerging technologies and markets
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience sourcing new tools and equipment to support team development
Desire to make a significant impact in a high growth environment
Energetic, collaborative, self-motivated and autonomous
Willingness to travel as required to global Sensata and customer sites
