Sensata Technologies, Inc. Supplier Quality Engineer in Aguascalientes, Mexico

The Supplier Quality Engineer investigates, analyzes and resolves supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. Working in project teams, the Supplier Quality Engineer is applying advanced quality planning to ensure that new developed products are meeting the expectation of Sensata and Customers.

General Responsibilities

  • Handles resolution of problems related to misunderstanding or misinterpretation of product specifications

  • Provides active support during the supplier selection process, to ensure that a well-prepared and best supplier

  • Provides technical input for strategic sourcing projects

  • Requests Supplier Risk Assessments

  • Supports drawing and tool design reviews, works on measurement concepts

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Execute AIAG, IATF16949, ISO 9001 or industry applicable quality system requirements, and customer requirements for supply chain

  • Work directly with supplier’s upper management/owners to drive improved performance

  • Manage and coordinate containment actions for supplier non conformant material

  • Coordinate disposition for supplier non conformant material

  • Issued and follow supplier corrective actions until effective closure using 8D

  • Communicate internally and externally (corporate, customers & suppliers) about supplier quality issues and supplier’s performance

  • Lead applicable new component supplier sourcing for new product development (NPD) or Change Management (CM)

  • Request, follow, review and approve supplier PPAPs/FAIs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering ; Master’s degree is a plus

  • At least 5 years in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing process Engineering with experience in Injection Molding process .

  • Strong knowledge of Problem-Solving capabilities (prefer the capability to complete 8D format)

  • Strong knowledge of automotive core tools such as APQP, PPAP , MSA, SPC & FMEA

  • Strong knowledge of GD&T

  • Knowledge on Process Based Audits (Audit Preparation, Performing an Actual Audit, Submission and Review of Corrective Action, and ensuring effectiveness & closure)

  • Knowledge of Lean Practices, Mistake Proofing / Poka Yoke methodology and practices & Kaizen

  • Knowledge with PDCA and Six Sigma methodologies (DMAIC)

  • Knowledge or certified internal auditor based on IATF 16494 (or TS16949)

  • Experience with VDA 6.3 is a plus but not a requirement

  • Experience of AIAG CQI Process Assessments is a plus
