Sensata Technologies, Inc. Mexico Trade Compliance Manager in Aguascalientes, Mexico

Sensata is currently looking to hire a country Trade Compliance Manager who will be overseeing the trade compliance activities for Sensata Mexico sites including Aguascalientes, Matamoros, Mexicali and two sites in Tijuana. The role is primarily responsible for monitoring and auditing activities to ensure Sensata’s Mexico sites are in compliance with the Mexican Customs regulations, including IMMEX regulations and others.

This position will report to the Global Trade Compliance (GTC) organization from Sensata’s headquarters in Attleboro, Massachusetts (USA), coordinating the site-level trade compliance personnel and capabilities in Mexico.

The position provides strategic and tactical leadership across Sensata Mexico to ensure that the sites are in compliance with a wide range of trade regulations. It will develop and implement policies and internal management systems to ensure that employees understand and follow targeted legal principles involving domestic and foreign trade laws. It will guide and support the sites in remediation efforts where necessary and ensure the ongoing fulfillment of customs requirements for the import/export operation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform periodic compliance audits as needed and assist with development, standardization, and corrective action plan implementation.

  • Conduct daily reviews of trade compliance activities, including import and export transactions in accordance with Sensata’s Monitoring Program for IMMEX companies.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that employees understand and follow targeted legal principles involving IMMEX and foreign trade laws.

  • Assist site trade compliance teams in developing and administering an effective trade compliance program to ensure company compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements.

  • Prepare for internal and external audits by researching materials; formulating a plan of action.

  • Support in ensuring compliance with regulations and controls by examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation, recommending opportunities to strengthen the internal control structure.

  • Communicate audit progress and findings by preparing reports; providing information to GTC management.

  • Coordinate internal audits/self-assessment site reviews.

  • Support third-party consultant’s auditors by coordinating information requirements with the sites.

  • Provide management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing management information.

  • Assist trade compliance team at the sites with compliance-related questions or issues.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree required

  • 5+ years of experience in international trade compliance; multiple-site experience preferred

  • Intensive compliance experience on IMMEX Regulations and import/export regulatory compliance function

  • Audit experience desired. Experience with public accounting and/or trade compliance auditing methods (internal and/or external) strongly preferred, as this position will support GTC transactional testing and compliance improvement processes

  • Experience with international business transactions and shipping documents

  • Experience using Annex 24 Systems, Annex 31

  • Experience on VAT, OEA and CTPAT certifications

  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) information systems such as Oracle or others

  • Ability to independently plan, organize, control, and coordinate projects to achieve results

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote-communication environment within a global reporting structure

  • Strong knowledge and experience with import-export operations, IMMEX regulation

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

  • Excellent oral and written skills; strong English (ESL) preferred

*Must be willing to travel from time to time as needed (to the cities mentioned above, also possibly to US locations for meetings). Travel expectation estimated 25%-35% annually.
