Sensata Technologies, Inc. AFM Project Engineer in Aguascalientes, Mexico

Sensata Technologies (ST) is seeking a Global Aftermarket Vehicle Management Solutions (VMS) Project Engineer / Product Manager to support on-going expansion into the Independent Aftermarket (IAM). Working closely alongside a global and cross-functional team with mentors, this role will refine, standardize, and manage the end-to-end process of New Product introductions (NPI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Aftermarket (AFM).

General Responsibilities

  • Leads multiple project activities throughout project lifecycles to ensure completion within the defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiative

  • Develop and control deadlines, budgets and activities

  • Apply change, risk and resource management

  • Resolve projects’ higher scope issues

  • Assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

  • Ensure goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction and team member performance

  • Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved

  • Meeting with stakeholders to make communication easy and transparent regarding project issues and decisions on services

  • Producing accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle

  • Analyzing program risk

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 4-6 years of experience (i.e. Bachelors degree) or a graduate degree and 2-4 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree) or a higher level degree and 0-2 years of experience (i.e. Doctorate degree)

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

  • Support VMS Aftermarket (Sensata products outside of TPMS) expansion, including growth within established categories and introduction of new categories

  • Quickly and accurately launch Aftermarket items in line with business priorities and customer needs, with a focus on Vehicles In Operation / Sensors In Operation (VIO / SIO) coverage to maximize Sensata’s share of Global Independent Aftermarket (IAM) replacement demand

  • Review production part information (Bill of Materials, Specifications, Drawings, Production Readiness) and understand current or previous Change Management and Engineering programs to identify the required end product for AFM

  • Identify and collaborate with key cross-functional team members, including Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service to execute introduction of items through an AFM-appropriate New Product Development (NPD) process

  • Refine and standardize the New Product Development (NPD) process for VMS Aftermarket, and lead process alignment across the global Make sites

  • Assess opportunities to and create framework for selling excess / obsolete items into AFM channels

  • Identify and lead efficiency and productivity improvement projects such as SKU consolidation / rationalization for inventory optimization and Aftermarket-focused sourcing to streamline current processing

  • Manage Agile project and be able to modify existing master documentation (control plan, flow chart, FMEA) to accommodate the new aftermarket part numbers and work with the quality team for Production Sign-Off (PSO)

  • Work with local planning teams to ensure launch and ramp readiness (in our systems, e.g. documentation and part number setups, and on the manufacturing floor, e.g. materials) as well as any support needed for customer samples

  • Work with local process and manufacturing teams to accommodate any required customer- or business-specific packaging and determine best practices for fulfilment

  • Ensures VMS AFM product management databases are completely up to date and maintained

  • Identification of competitor parts and possible determination of benchmarking requirements, compatibility and coverage with respect to ST products, sources of information for database and catalogues.

  • Assist in cataloguing process where required

  • Regular participation in Sales, Marketing, Product Management and Business continuity meetings

  • Participation in required trainings and additional training as necessary

  • Potential travel to Make Sites and local customers required

Customer Interface / Inquiries

  • Serve as VMS Aftermarket contact for customer requests and inquiries, including samples, compatibility, technical characteristics, cross-referencing, manufacturing output, and other different support requirements as needed

  • Work in alignment with Sensata’s priorities

Key Deliverables

  • Product Portfolio expansion

  • On time production launch and ramp, including material readiness and sample support

  • Coverage of Vehicles In Operation / Sensors In Operation (VIO / SIO)

  • Proficiency working in Sensata internal systems

  • Contributions to overall VMS Product Management Team deliverables recorded

  • Ensures compliance with company, strategic and statutory requirements

Experience

  • 4-6 years of professional experience

  • 2+ years of Automotive industry knowledge

  • Automotive Aftermarket experience a plus

Degree

  • Minimum 4 year / Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
