Sensata Technologies, Inc. Site Sourcing Manager in St Paul, Minnesota
Sensata is searching for a Site Sourcing Manager to join our Global Supply Chain team to support the global strategy deployment and site operation to meet Sensata’s overall global supply objectives. This exciting role will have responsibility for a small team in Minnesota with reporting responsibility directly into executive level individuals of public and private companies.
The main objective for this position is to enable doubling Sensata’s revenues over the coming 5 years through organic growth of 7-9% annually and proper integration of acquisitions to come by managing this growth across Sensata’s supply base.
The successful candidate will have experience in Strategic Sourcing, Supply Base Development, Contract Negotiation, Program Management and Materiel Cost Reduction. The position will also be responsible for overseeing activities related to the procurement of materials, parts, components, and equipment.
Strategic Sourcing Management Support the commodity-level strategy and tactics to meet continuity of supply, cost reduction, low cost country sourcing, material obsolescence mitigation, etc. Direct a team of resources in executing the global sourcing plans across multiple commodities.
Strategic Sourcing/Supply Base Development & Management Supplier identification, evaluation, selection, performance management, supply base right-sizing, executive supplier interface, management of single/sole source relationships.
Long Term Strategic Agreements and Negotiation Development and negotiation of global supply and equipment agreements, including pricing road maps, Sensata’s standard terms and conditions, expectations, procurement best practices, risk mitigation, etc.
Program Management Global Program Leader for key cost reduction programs. These programs could include such things as supplier changes, supplier relocations to low cost regions, negotiations, design changes, new product releases, etc.
Material Cost Reduction Reporting Support the creation of all material cost reduction forecasts, including the Annual Plan (AP) with quarterly updates, and the Long Range Plan (LRP). Reconcile and report on actual vs. plan.
Inventory Control - Ensures adequate inventory of materials and products in accordance with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy. Develops and implements inventory control procedures. Coordinates and manages daily physical cycle counts. Trains and manages an inventory team.
Additionally, specific requirements of this position are:
Direct the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives.
Review and approve purchases up to a specified dollar amount.
Negotiate major contracts involving large dollar amounts.
Develops policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities.
Monitors the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major subcontracts.
Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels.
Assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system.
Receives predetermined work assignments with specific instructions.
Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies.
Interacts daily with subordinates and/or functional peer groups. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals. Generally supervises nonexempt employees (i.e., expediters, general purchasing support, processors of purchase orders).
A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit or sub-unit.
Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
5-8 years sourcing/regional commodity management experience
5-8 years of manufacturing related sourcing experience
Commodity management and strategic implementation
Development and implementation of commodity strategy
Prior commodity management experience in the automotive, industrial and defense sectors a plus
Strong executive relationships across a wide variety of companies
Multi-national corporation and global sourcing experience
Prior manufacturing or operations experience desired
Global operations experience across a broad range of tactical areas
Team leadership across organizational and geographic boundaries
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Global travel required; 15 to 25%
