Sensata Technologies, Inc. Lead Repairs Technician - RMA in South Burlington, Vermont

As the Lead Repair Technician on our RMA (Return Material Authorization) team, you'll participate in receiving returned customer's equipment (such as converters and transformers) that is in need of repairs together with a team of technicians. You and your team will clean it, figure out what's wrong, and fix the equipment so it can go back out to the customer. You’re a problem solver with leadership skills who loves troubleshooting an issue and finding the root cause, while supporting a team of fellow repair technicians.

What You'll Be Doing

On an average day, you’ll

  • Prepare customer-shipped RMA equipment for inspection, testing, and eventually production work.

  • Inspect damaged components, both visually and through electrical tests.

  • Research original equipment builds using BOM, drawings, etc. as well as photos, test documents, and field service reports to aid in root cause analysis.

  • Perform repairs, engineering upgrades, and refurbishments on RMA equipment.

  • Read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and perform swipe tests on equipment surfaces using proper PPE and waste handling procedures.

  • Assist in training of new repair and field service technicians.

  • Put safety first, all day every day.

What You Need To Apply

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • Mechanical assembly experience required

  • Ability to read blue prints and electrical diagrams

  • Understanding of diode, contactor, and circuit board assembly processes; capacitor, IGBT, and HMI/PLC assembly processes; and transformer, cabinet, and wiring assembly processes

  • Ability to read and interpret various instruments - tape measure, calipers, pressure gauge, volt meter, insulation resistance, SCR tester, continuity, transformer turns ratio, LCR meter, conductivity

  • Experience as a team lead preferred

Work Environment

This is a full-time, non-exempt position scheduled from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. - we have flexible hours, allowing you to start your day anytime between 6 and 8 a.m. This position works in a manufacturing production environment. This role routinely uses standard personal protective equipment such as required Safety Glasses and Safety shoes, as well as head and hearing protection and gloves, as required.

  • Constantly move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Specific abilities required by the job include positioning oneself to lift or move objects weighing to 40 pounds, pushing and pulling objects with up to 200 pounds Constant movement and use of limbs. Specific abilities required by this job include prolonged standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and frequently pinching and/or gripping.

  • Frequently observe, detect, discern, and convey information. Specific abilities required by this job include near, far and color vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Requires good manual dexterity and coordination, and stamina. Specific abilities required by this job include the frequent requirement of overtime work.
