Sensata Technologies, Inc. Mechanical Design Engineer in Sofia, Bulgaria
Within our Design Engineering Department in Sofia, Bulgaria we do a ground breaking research and development of sensor technologies for the automotive industry worldwide. For our growing needs, we plan to attract a few new Mechanical Engineers for new products development in the area of high temperature sensors. Engineers work individually and collaboratively in multi-national teams. Engineers must develop and technically support sensor products to satisfy internal metrics and the demanding needs of our customers.
Perform design verification on original and/or derivative ideas using analytical and experimental methods;
Technology selection, conceptual design and prototyping;
Work with a multifunctional team to validate design changes on current products and on product development teams to impact and validate new designs;
Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs;
Provide design information to CAD drafters;
Provide technical leadership in the design and development of sensor products. This includes research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Interface with both internal and external customers and utilize their requests and specifications in developing solutions to problems. Provide direction and leadership to other engineers, technicians, machinists, and other support groups.
Participation in continuous improvement and cost reduction projects;
Maintain product documentation (drawings and specifications);
Stay in contact with customers (automotive OEMs) and suppliers on a regular basis.
Strong understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles and ability to apply principles flexibly in unfamiliar situations;
3+ years of mechanical design engineering experience;
BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Transport Technologies or similar;
Excellent English language skills - verbal and written;
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly;
Creativity and innovation; persistence and drive to solve challenging problems and overcome obstacles;
Ability to deliver results in a complex, fast-paced environment;
Works well in a team and is able to openly communicate in an honest and forthright manner with peers, interdisciplinary engineering groups, customers and vendors;
Appreciation of the automotive industry.
