JOB TITLE: Functional Safety Manager

JOB DUTIES: Performing safety management activities for Sensata’s electronic sensors and systems, according to relevant standards during all project phases (concept, product development, production) including preliminary hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA and FTA. Analyzing the impact of ISO 26262 to create and ensure Functional Safety awareness is communicated and promoted across all departments. Developing safety architectures and safety plans to ensure compliance with ISO 26262. Leading and coordinating the creation of functional safety documentation according to ISO 26262. Ensuring safety requirements are cascaded into the systems, subsystems, and component levels in product portfolios. Specifying detailed safety requirements, including diagnostic and software requirements for Sensata’s electronic sensors and systems. Collaborating with Sensata Project Managers, Development Teams, and customers on the implementation of functional safety requirements. Conducting reviews with Sensata’s Product Teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout the product development cycle. Working with sales teams to present functional safety solutions to potential customers and create the material to help close business.

10% domestic and international travel to meet with customers for requirement definition/clarification and to visit manufacturing sites as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study and five (5) years of experience in Functional Safety. Certified Functional Safety Professional (beyond first tier), five (5) years of experience in conducting client presentations and staff trainings. Experience must include:

  • Five (5) years of experience in hardware and software functional safety compliance; ISO 26262 and ISO methodologies, and documentations;

  • Three (3) years of experience in hardware and/or software product design and embedded systems architecture; system reliability analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, FTA); requirements management;

  • One (1) year of experience in SOTIF / ISO 21448; communication protocols such as CAN; and in Cyber-Security.

OTHER (WORKSITE): 10335 W Emerald Street, Boise, ID 83704-5018. Hybrid two (2) days/week work from home schedule authorized from a home office located within a normal commuting distance from office located at 10335 W Emerald Street, Boise, ID 83704-5018.
