Sensata Technologies, Inc. Resident Engineer - Program Manager in Auburn Hills, Michigan
This position will be located on site at the GM VEC in Warren The position requires a motivated "self starter" personality and will require about 10-20% travel in support of product development and customer post launch activities related to customer specific product development.
This position will be responsible for actively participating as a key member of the product development team supporting the design and development role in the following areas;
Collaborates with customer project team by serving as a technical resource, including the ability to facilitate direct access to Company technical experts as needed.
Provide prototype vehicle build support and lead TIR (Test Incident Report) investigations as requested.
Attend and participate/lead product development meetings.
Contribute to the creation of product specifications, perform engineering calculations and analysis, facilitate or perform validation testing, and manage engineering changes.
Contribute to improvements in cost and timing by suggesting creative design solutions.
Follow up on action items and commitments, participate in defining new hardware and software requirements and assist with customer system integration and debugging at all stages of the life cycle of the company’s products for the customer.
Desired Roles & Experience:
Motivated, disciplined “self starter” who will be working off site at the GM VEC (tech center).
Work directly with GM Engineering, understand the TPMS product, applications and potential future applications for TPMS type products. Understand legislation and the impacts it could have on existing or future TPMS business.
Thorough understanding of the GM EWO process. Author Engineering Work Orders (EWOs) to support 100% global business with GM for TPMS. Generate technical solutions for current, new, and major programs.
Attend required CAB (Change Approval Board) reviews.
Customer Service: Support GM BFO, DRE, SSLE and Validation engineers and adhere to requested timing to complete tasks. Attend meetings on time and establish a regular working pattern of hours that these GM individuals recognize.
Warranty: Attend weekly or monthly warranty meetings at the GM VEC. Deliver warranty returns back to Sensata for analysis and feedback.
Test Fleet Vehicles: Ensure parts are available for fleet builds, monitor status fleet vehicle TPMS components and report any issues back to Sensata engineering.
IVER vehicle builds: Support builds and ensure parts are available and on time.
Support software meetings with GM India and GME
Working with Sensata Engineering to understand all current developments, and to help ensure that Sensata's future product portfolio meets the future requirements of our customers.
Working with Sensata Regional and Worldwide marketing teams to ensure that these future developments are well understood, and to help tailor the technical offerings for each customer as required.
Supported DFMEA reviews, Warranty Analysis, PRTS reviews and plant issues/new product introductions.
Data acquisition experience with vehicle sensor data to define ECU calibrations and achieve system performance goals.
Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, while working with remote cross-functional teams (Northern Ireland, Germany, Korea, China and France) on RF-based TPMS systems.
Work closely with remote Engineering teams to develop product specifications, designs, implementation efforts, product portfolio, and product launch schedule.
Communication and coordination with customer concerning program direction and production issues.
Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development.
Monitor performance through analyzing warranty data, investigating CTF verbatim for quality and reliability.
2. Technical Sales
Working with the Technical contacts at our customers, to build up pre-development relationships to help ensure that our customers have a good understanding of our technology.
To support the Sales Manager(s) in all information preparation for RFQs (development costs from Engineering, customer specific technical documentation etc)
To support the Sale Manager(s) in all customer meetings where the discussions involve technical issues (e.g. warranty issues, delayed project timings due to changing requirements or technical issues).
To act as a resource for our Antrim, Ireland Project Team, providing local and timely support if needed, on-site support where a resident is not available, winter / summer testing support etc.
To help with the communication of requirements from the customer to Sensata Project team when necessary.
Bachelor's of Engineering Degree Required
