Sensata Technologies, Inc. Mechanical Design Engineer Manager in Attleboro, Massachusetts

The candidate will assume full ownership of mechanical product design and development for industrial pressure and thermal products. The candidate receives assignments in the form of objectives/goals and must provide direction to employees to meet the outlined goals. The candidate also directs employees according to established policies and will administer company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering plus 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Support new product development and sustaining product projects (quality, cost reductions, change management)

  • Provide leadership to a team of engineers and technicians to achieve their individual and team goals.

  • Coach and mentor engineers to contribute to the organization's vision, mission and targets.

  • Plan and coordinate activities to meet the organization's daily, monthly and annual goals.

  • Organize the engineering team to support the production and quality teams to reach the Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) goals.

  • Prioritizes the team's actions to address the most important issues.

  • Identifies training needs for the engineering team and plans for the training sessions accordingly.

  • Manages conflicts within and outside of the team to create a positive work environment.

  • Provides technical guidance to the engineers for problem solving, reading data, analysis and optimizing operations.

  • Scheduling and facilitation of meetings, understanding customer requirements and expectations, and developing/driving actions and schedules needed to support those program expectations.

  • Work with cross-functional teams including process engineering, marketing, the PMT and the Make site operations team.

  • As part of the site leadership team, promote a positive work culture with a "lead by example" mindset.

  • 10% domestic & international travel may be required

Job Requirements:

  • BS/MS ME degree, strong comprehension of engineering principles required

  • 6+ years of product and/or process development experience

  • CAD background (SDRC, Solid Works) desired

  • Possesses knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and Kaizen methodologies.

  • Innovative, driven, self-directed individual

  • Leadership skills and ability to work with little direction

  • Must be able to work on simultaneous projects, tasks and programs

  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with other engineering disciplines, customers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure successful development and execution of projects

  • Ability to work in a culture which encourages personal accountability and an entrepreneurial way of thinking
